It's a love/hate relationship Mike.... Damn your knowledge and brain power! LOL!

How does Honda MAF work? Never seem to have this issue with slapping on an intake for a Honda...

On what car? The S2000 uses MAP, not MAF. The K can use MAP, MAF, or a hybrid.

Also, that intake is probably not *really* doing anything

Gotcha,

After digging some more it looks like using a restricter is not as clean a solution as i thought.. meaning the boost does not just level off and hold but rather will drop (in some cases like a rock) off sharply.. so you end up making peak power at lower rpm... not an appealing idea to me. I guess the "best" way to get more boost down low and maintain it at a safe level up top is with a gated setup.

Part of that is because the restrictor itself works as a velocity stack. A restrictor will actually *increase* power at a certain combination of flow and RPM, but ultimately limit power further up the powerband.

Check out the huge spike in power WRC cars have, and then the heavy nosedive as they go up the RPM range. The restrictor is to blame for that type of curve.

Not sure if this is in the right topic. If I went with the Jackson CARB tune and then added a JDL header, will I get a check engine light? Would I have to buy two tune's? One for the stock header and one for the aftermarket header?

I asked a similar question. I was looking at the new ft86speedfactory catted UEL they are working on...

Simple answer - yes on a new tune. Not sure about the CEL though...

It would be best to get a tune that works and utilizes the header you add on... at least from what I gathered :-)

CEL depends on the header.

If you're going to do breathing/exhaust mods, I'd recommend you do ALL the mods simultaneously, so that you don't have to constantly keep retuning.

I was looking at doing a header-back then then other mods. The very last being headers and supercharger. I would like to have the option of putting the stock header and front pipe on, and off. If I do that would I need two tunes.

Yes this is so I can smog the car anywhere I want.

Ah, sounds like keeping the CARB tune for smog, and the other tune for "other times" will be perfect for you
