I guess the "best" way to get more boost down low and maintain it at a safe level up top is with a gated setup.

Not sure if this is in the right topic. If I went with the Jackson CARB tune and then added a JDL header, will I get a check engine light? Would I have to buy two tune's? One for the stock header and one for the aftermarket header?
