Perrin 2.5in resonated catback and Openflash Header. The overpipe (between header and catback) is still stock.

I'm finally done.. I have been working on this damn car since yesterday afternoon nonstop. I went ahead and did the intake tube, fog lights, and side markers too. The only thing I have left is the clutch slave cylinder.

When I started her up, it was LOUD. It was idling at about 1400 rpm, and my room mate and his buddy said it shook the house. I think they were sitting directly above the garage.

After it dropped down to about 900 rpm, it was completely fine, very quiet. When I got on the road it was just right. Sounded nice and racecarish, loud enough to notice, but wasn't overbearing in the cabin and I doubt I was turning heads from a block away or anything.

I'm too exhausted to get into much detail now, but it sounds really nice and it's just subtle enough while still getting noisy when you want it to. Nice smooth sound, I don't have any complaints aside from the thunderous cold start. I might have to tweak that down a bit.

Lack of time, tools, space, knowledge and parts. It took a while to get it all together and go through all the DIY's and everything. I've had these parts for about a month I think.

I had already replaced all the interior trim, did wheel spacers, clutch adjustment, shark fin, and some other stuff, so I've been working on it some before this. I also built a shed in the back yard to make room in the garage.

The license plate frame will add at least 83 HP! When you get done with the installs, head out to the three sisters route.

It's actually better that you waited until you got all your mods in at that point. Now you only have to go under your car once to install all your new exhaust components as well as your header. Man that's going to feel so satisfying when you're done. Good luck and keep us updated whether or not you feel the difference in performance after the OFT flash!

It's all done already, and yes, it was better to knock it out all at once. It was pretty painful though, I'm still sore lol. If I have time this afternoon and I will try to do some videos of idle, revs, drive by etc.

On a side note.. I finally got it registered today so I'm not driving on dead plates anymore.

The $1,100 in taxes sure did sting though.

I tried to take a few clips this morning, but they didn't turn out good at all. There was construction going on across the street. Too much background noise. I'll try again when I start her up to leave work today.

Here are my side markers though

It's amazing how getting rid of little amber side markers can improve the whole look of the car.

Yeah it's a very noticeable improvement. When it's parked at least.. not a fan of the amber LED. I'm seriously considering just getting white LED's and sayin F the police.

They haven't bothered me about the front plate yet. Never had one on my jeep either.

The Texas law regarding front plates was revised this past September 2014. I'm too lazy to find the link for the exact article, but as of now it states that a front license plate is only required when operating a vehicle on the freeway/highway. On occasion I will get pulled over for not having my front plate at all, but I'm pretty sure they're just seeing if they can get me for anything else while I'm stopped. They always say they're "letting me off with a warning", but I know my rights. Also seeing as I have yet to get pulled over on the freeway for not having my plate, I'm well within them.

In Texas you are required to have a front license plate on ANY public road. You are correct that Tex. Trans. Code § 504.943 states:

Quote:
Sec. 504.943. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a person commits an offense if the person operates on a public highway, during a registration period, a motor vehicle that does not display two license plates that:
(1) have been assigned by the department for the period; and
(2) comply with department rules regarding the placement of license plates.
Emphasis added.

However, see Tex. Trans. Code § 502.001(35):

Quote:
(35) "Public highway" includes a road, street, way, thoroughfare, or bridge:
(A) that is in this state;
(B) that is for the use of vehicles;
(C) that is not privately owned or controlled; and
(D) over which the state has legislative jurisdiction under its police power.
Accordingly, you can be ticketed for driving without a front license plate, whether you're on a highway or surface streets.
