With the stock intake or with a panel filter, the acceleration improves at lower rpm especially 1-4k range but you won't have the pull like the after market intakes.

The first time I saw the TRD intake on the Scion celebrity race car, that design really get my attention. Bigger air box increasing intake volume, this intake will improve throttle response and power. I don't think it will make as much power as a aftermarket box up cone filter, however, throttle response SHOULD be unbeatable.

Since no one has dyno the TRD intake, it's too early to judge if it's good or bad. So I will be dynoing this unit and plus a DRIFT OFFICE tune along with it.

Here's are some pics for the intake :

I will keep you update how the install and dyno goes.

Thanks
Ben
gotta see that dyno!

I'm kind of conflicted to reset or not reset the ecu after install. Kind of inclined not to so I have a direct comparison of before and after.

One thing you might want to verify is it works with your header. Doesn't the header come up in the front of the engine bay?

It fits with the Vortech, so i'm assuming the TRD intake should fit. Asked anyway in their thread to find out

That's good. Might be a good idea to heat wrap the portion that comes up if the intake box is close by.

The TRD will fit the P&L header. The stock intake is deeper than the TRD because of the resonator box that hangs down on the stock unit. My only concern with the TRD is trying to install an oil cooler. I want to build my own kit, but I cannot figure out how to hook up the hoses on the filter side/sandwich plate.

Anyways, when I get my header, I'd like to come up to VA and dyno with you guys.

Good man! I know @vtmike was talking about setting up another dyno day, and @civicdrivr wants to get back on there once his issues get sorted out.

my header should be here in about 3 weeks. which header did you go with?

I'm one of the ones who opted out of the group buy. So hopefully it will be here after its coated. I'll data log it and send them in to see if my tune needs tweaking before the dyno runs.

I almost did the same but by the time i was ready to pull the trigger it made sense to go with the group buy. I'm getting mine uncoated so that'll be another thing we can test at the dyno, peak temps between coated/uncoated.

I just installed the intake. The instructions called for a ecu reset so I followed the instructions. Installation was pretty straight forward. Unfortunately don't have much time today to do much testing and with the ecu reset it's hard to tell how it compares at this point. The one thing I can comment on is sound wise, I can't really tell any difference from with the perrin inlet hose and resonators removed.

Had mine installed at the dealer today, I have to say it was worth the money for me. Definitely better throttle response and the engine sounds a lot better. And to go along with what others saying it definitely smoothed out the idle.

Well maybe you should get a dyno then
In the meantime what is your butt dyno verdict?
my butt dyno feels like it it has a lot better low end 1-3k rpm pull
