You know most dealers do not fill up the tank with premium. For normal driving, I use 87 octane and haven't heard any pinging or any problems with my car. On auto x days or when gas prices are down, I do use 92 octane from Wawa. I never let my tank go lower than 1/4 and I usually switch on and off on 92 octane to 87.

That's I am averaging 34-37 MPG on the highway and with city driving mixed in, I have an average fuel economy of 29-32mpg :/

If you keep switching, you'll get detonation when the ECU is adjusting down from 92 to 87.

Most, if not all gas stations in the northeast only have E10 gas for 87-93.

First of all put octance boost in your car if you havent already. then slap your dad. finally it should not have hurt the car at all. you can always change the fuel in a car if need be. but the A/f ratio was designed to run on 91+ The worst it will do is give you poor gas mileage and it might foul up the spark plugs. you will lose a little power. I would suggest not doing it again.

87 is not gonna void the warranty, and honestly doubt would cause any damage. Remember, cars are a lot smarter than you think. |
