I honestly don't care about it. I mean, it's ugly as hell, but I'm not going to be winning any car shows anyway. And I don't even know what would be different if I did delete it. As long as it's not impacting performance I'm perfectly fine with it being there.

I couldn't care less if it's "fake" or not. I love that growl. For a forum mostly full of kids, you sound like bunch of old farts! Shit, I may just extend my tube up and over the headliner and pipe the sound directly into my skull, out of protest.

Yeah, first time I drove the car had no idea it even had it, I thought it had a good intake sound.

People always have to change things for the sake of it.

I don't think you can call it fake, anymore than you can call the bell (flanged part) of a tuba fake. The tube simply transmits the sound of the engine to the firewall. It is just a "dumb" tube, it doesn't generate any sound other than that of the engine.

If you are going to call the sound tube fake, than you also have to consider the sound generated by the exhaust pipe to be "fake" as well. After all, these are responsible for tuning the sound of the engine's exhaust gases. The "natural" sound of the exhaust gas leaving the manifold is entirely different.

I actually did plug mine then went back and unplugged it. I think it connects you a bit more to the driving experience.

I don't mind the sound, I just do a lot of conference calls in my car and people think I'm racing all the time. That's why I just plugged it in the passenger footwell, easily undone anytime.

I still have the sound gen, but there's no chance of hearing it over the straight pipe lol

The bell on a tuba serves a purpose for the good. The muffler on a car serves a purpose for the good. The sound tube takes what is normally a quiet environment and makes it louder. That is why I consider it fake. It's like putting lip stick on a pig. It doesn't benefit any one or any thing.

It's o.k. if you feel differently.

I recently plugged mine and I prefer it. The engine sound from under the hood is more appealing to me. I planned to pull the plug off for autocross so I would hear the engine. Totally didn't think about it. Turns out the engine is plenty loud when floored, while wearing a helmet with the windows down. No buzzing noise needed.

How is it fake?

It's engine noise, not computer generated.

In 1927 the exhaust on my Model T was prime and pure, now you pussies have a sound tube.

Folks there are 2 groups taking the lead here. I ones who had the balls to change it, and those who don't realize the car sounds better without it.

In all seriousness, the sound tube might add to the sound if you have the stock exhaust, but if you have most perf. exhausts, owners agree the car sounds better without it.

Tell them you are racing. Multitasking.

I haven't deleted mine because I like the extra cabin noise for autoX when I have my helmet on I can't hear well. Also not looking to give a bitch ass dealer or field rep a reason to deny a warranty claim (I have 100K factory warranty).
