Don’t confuse your gearbox ratios with the “final drive” The gearbox (which is a device that amplifies the engine’s power/torque) has ratios that determine the spacing between each gear While the final drive (along with wheel diameter) determines the wheel speed across all the gearbox gears The final drive is the final gear for each the gearbox gears, the final multiplier. You are partially right though, driving IN 6th gear will FEEL like you’re driving in 5th, but that’s about it. The net result will be lower top speeds for each gear but faster acceleration because your engine’s power is being amplified at a greater rate

the transmissions converts engine revs into torque at either a fast rate or a low rate, the gears and final drive dictate these rates.

The gearing in this car at least for the manual is pretty short and close ratio. lighter wheels if you want to spend money. but the best option for a dd is exhaust a tune.

How'd you get rid of the CEL when you installed the BORLA header? Did you tune it or did you do the defouler?
