I saw AJ is making a piece like this when I visit last week

Just got my TRD intake ordered from AJ and I will post review after I get it installed

If you were in Panama City or north of there I would have left work already and been on my way! As much as I DEARLY love Orlando (spent my honeymoon there) its just too far to drive AND buy another intake + hotel.

That would be bad.

My intuition is that it is not brake fluid. But if it is, take it in ASAP.
This would also happen on my Celica (bought new, low high mileage) after going out on the twisties and never felt a change in brake feel including this time with the BRZ. But I wouldn't notice the black sticky goo on my rims/the side of my car til I'd be washing my car. What else could it be... perhaps brake dust mixed with moisture from washing? Specks of dirt would embed into my Celica's brake caliper housings and I'm starting to notice the same on my BRZ.

Black and sticky wouldn't be brake fluid... Think about it, if you lost that while driving you'd have to change it all the time. It's a sealed, pressurised system. If you had a leak, trust me, you'd know about it.

Likely culprits would include tar or even rubber if you're abusing them that badly.

Not to mention, the guys talking about brake fluid on painted body panels... Brake fluid eats paint! So its not brake fluid guys. I get the same black tar like specks on any car I've owned. They look like road tar to me. Asphalt is nasty stuff.

Back on topic. TRD intake DYNO!

Had the same experience happen to me with my 2003 Dodge SRT-4. The brake fluid ate that car's paint alive all over. Showed like pink spots and you can see it through the primer. Had major fights with dealership, and they finally agreed to have the entire car repainted.

Sorry for the slight tangent about my brakes guys. But I can say something about the TRD CAI sound. The motor sounds louder like it is revving like an extra 500 RPM compared to stock. Meaning if I am at 2k RPM, the motor sounds maybe as loud as 2.5k RPM if it were running on the stock airbox. This gives the sensation that the motor is burning fuel more rapidly due to the increased air necessitating more fuel as someone mentioned.

It'd only show up after some spirited driving; never under everyday driving.

Along the bottom edge of our doors there are around 3 drain holes that always have a black gooey residue seeping out of them. I'm now thinking that's the same substance I found along the side of my door, fender, and wheels. If so, I'm stumped as to how it spewed way out there.

Ohhh just saw the TRD intake dynoed. Let's just say the numbers are very promising. However I'll let him post the outcome. People will definitely like it more after he posts it.

this forum has been a tease ever since the discovery of the TRD Intake. wonder why Scion hasn't added to their accessories yet.
