What Gem did for the forum was to incite dialogue. Love him or hate him, his threads were some of the most read on the forum in general.
Did he pimp the products he liked? absolutely, but that's not much different than any other car guy I know. When people find something they like, they will swear by it. He was just far more vocal than the average person. I will admit, I was pretty anti gem in the beginning. We got into it when he had the issue with Visconti. I think he even might have blocked me after our run in, but, I've moved past that and actually read his threads. He does provide a lot of data, and most of his comments are well written. He is a bit Bulldogish in the fact that he will latch on to things, but I have come to respect him in this "reincarnation".

People are giving him too much attention. He is not a god. When i see a wall of text from him I don't read it anymore. I do look at the hard facts he presents as should anyone. Hard facts are valuable. His rants and his opinions are not.
You violate the rules and you get banned. Simple as that. He does not get any free passes just because he is a de-facto vortech tester/promoter. |

If you guys only knew some of the stuff he asked of the vendors here, i have gotten a few free parts to test but didn't ask for them. I won't go in to detail but he expects a lot for providing his reviews which are always positive so its hard to say how truthful they are.
I do feel his comments against Hancha were unwarranted and disrespectful, its one thing to question a company that makes wild claims (agency power) but hancha did not deserve to be treated that way as a paying vendor here. We all have to start somewhere and there was no need for him to belittle their company. |

I will be posting his dynos as they occur. I think he might have finally picked a dyno technology to be consistent with lol.
I think he meant well, but it can be difficult for untrained eyes to wade through the bias and misinformation. So while I believe he DID have lots of valuable information, you just had to dig through the rest of the stuff to get to it. |

All of Gems IP's are blocked including his wifes, and the coffee shops he goes to. He wanted me to keep you all updated and leave a little message.

This forum sorta sucks. Lots of good people but I'm not sure I like the way it's moderated. Vivid racing can keep right on posting but Gem gets banned. Sure he's outspoken and rude sometimes but he's not scamming us with fake dynos and POS parts. It's not like he was being racist or threatening to kill people or just blatantly trolling. There were lots of people trolling vendor threads in the past, I still see those guys around. WTF mods?

Well, I never knew the guy and am not from Arizona but would read his information and found it very useful. I personaly didn't care if he was wrong/wright in arguing, being rude, or anything of that nature with others because I was only interested in quality information so I skip through everyones bs.
Anyways, I would like to thank him for still going out of his way and handing his data to someone else to post here. Very much looking forward for the results as I'm sure alot of others are also. |
