PTuning has yet to release THIS kit, so probably asking about twin scrolls when THIS kit is not off the ground yet is just misplaced "wants". They are going to take my money without twin scroll...lol. So, would rather focus on this sick ass kick they have currently and save the twin scroll talk for a later discussion. |

Does anyone remember if FBM and AVO were using a stock header when they made those #'s? Quote:
One thing about PTuning's setups if you look back with their tC and S2k systems, you will realize how integrated they are. They are VERY methodical down to the 10th degree. When I say they think of everything, they usually think of EVERYTHING. There is a reason why they have taken this long to release the details of their kit. I assure you, that whatever piping route you come up with, won't be as optimal as the original layout they have created here. |

As for the piping lay out, there was one kit that had shorter plumbing in and out of the bumper, but it required cutting which would be polarizing at best. I'm certainly not knocking their decision to take this path, just trying to keep things accurate. I'll see if I can find the thread but I don't want to clutter this thread too much. edit, from what I could find Britz and Greddy both offer the routing I was remembering, but I'm remembering it on another car. It may have been a one off for the ultimate sports car challenge... Last edited by Calum; 04-12-2013 at 07:57 PM. |

Both kits use their own header.

I know this is off topic so I'll keep it short. The scavenging effects of the twinscroll design really lend themselves to a mid-range power boost. Transient response is improved, and torque output climbs as well... in the mid-range. You need a large turbine housing to get the flow from the TS setups in t2 and t3 setups. They just don't flow well. On a flow-bench, a 1.06 T3 housing flows LESS than a .63 open housing. Top end flow always seems to suffer a bit with a TS setup, so it isn't all its cracked up to be. You have to pick your poison; Awesome top end, or tons of mid-range! As far as cams go, a large duration cam typically doesn't work well with twinscrolls. Backpressure builds rapidly in the housing and the turbo chokes the engine at high rpm. So large duration cams, especially with higher overlap, will not work well with small-mid frame TS setups. You'd have to go with a big-lift, low duration cam to keep overlap levels down, which is counterproductive to higher rpm output. A good TS setup will work well for this engine until 7000rpm or so. But in my experience, the open scroll designs will outperform TS as the revs climb. If you really want transient response, you should just design your setup for a smaller turbo and save money all around. TS adds a lot of cost and complexity for a comparatively small performance gain. |

You can drive on race tracks year round in FL too, and there are no emissions in FL. People love their cars anywhere, Cali is not the only car loving community with race tracks. You have cops that pull you over for an exhaust system, pop your hoods, measure your headlight to ground clearances...etc. If it was so epic, people wouldn't need to modify turbo setups to try and fool the authorities. |

I've tried both, and yes. No state tax, no emissions checks, you can shit without the state coming to inspect it, and you're allowed to defend yourself if need be. California is awesome, don't get me wrong. It's a great place to visit (I go to mammoth every year), but they have no concept of personal freedom or individual responsibility. They banned aluminum baseball bats for Pete's sake. It's a case study in reactionary politics.
Florida is humid, flat, and has lots of fire ants. You can't win them all lol. Texas is, in my opinion, the best of both worlds. The best of all worlds, really. If I had my choice is be there . So Texas > florida > Cali > everywhere else, IMHO lol.
