Regarding wanting to stay stock, the Enkei wheels have the same + 48 offset.

These wheels look great! Thanks.

The 235/40/17 has a smaller diameter then the stock tire but not by much and its about an inch wider. i have been racing on a this type of set you on my Honda Challenge race car because they only let me have a 7 inch wide rim. we just tracked our frs this week end and loved the way she felt. we ran at willow springs raceway (big track) only up grades we have are TRD air filter, TRD aero kit, Hawk break pad (DTC30) and 235/40/17 Toyo R1R tire. during the time attack we ran a 1:38.0 for a 4th place finish. car was planted and was super easy to drive with a touch of under steer

225/40-18 is 3.5 inches of sidewall.

215/45-17 is 3.8 inches of sidewall (stock).

215/50-17 is 4.23 inches of sidewall and looks 4x4ish

A 911 on 20s is 3.38 inches of sidewall and looks like a rubber band - it doesn't take much to make a big difference IMO.

Also if you don't like low-profile tires consider sticking with 17.
kk so i think i've settled on 225/40 on the front 8.5 and 235/40 on the rear 9.5, i'm a liiiittle worried about rubbing in the rear, think that'll work?

18x8.5 +38 in the front
18x9.5 +38 in the rear

225/40 in the front, 235/40 in the rear: will this rub at all on stock suspension?

Fitment is perfectly safe, albeit a bit of a stretch on the rubber.

Depending on power output and quality of tire it should be fine.

Ummmm, both sets are 17" diameter. The width is different, but not the diameter.

That will be pretty stretchy (but still totally fit fine) which is what you said you didn't like.

Have a look at this guy - he's got the 265s on both (which you'd only have on the rear) and see if you like the meat. Then you could do 235 or so on the front and still retain some tight steering.

correct me if I'm wrong but 235 on a 9.5 is a slight stretch, no?

It will not effect the outside diameter of the tire. You will be just fine with 215/45/17's on those wheels.
