Got my oil changed at my first 5000mile check up. No problem there. Even installed an aftermarket filter for me...
But then again. With my luck with dealerships. They couldve just replaced the filter -.- |

They told me the same thing. I said I get my first service no charge, and since I paid for the car and you guys owe me only 1 oil change, I want it now. It makes no difference to you guys for cost if you do it now, or later. But it's better for me, your customer, to feel better if you did it now with no extra cost to you.
They can't really say much after, so I got it done. |

I just went to the dealer at 7 1/2 months (1450 mi) after calling and setting an appointment for my oil change. After waiting an hour they said they did a complimentary multi-point inspection and 1000 mile service. Oh, and a free car wash! I asked about the oil change and was told that would be at 7,500 miles. I was not about to stand and argue with them after the wait for service so I left and placed a call to the dealer customer liaison. I'm awaiting a call back.

I got my call back. They were apologetic and rescheduled for next week. I'll let you know how it goes. The customer liaison agreed that at the rate I was putting the miles on I'd never get an oil change under the Service Boost program. BTW, the maintenance manual that comes with the car says to follow the 7 1/2 month time frame rather than the mileage if it comes first.

The local dealership to where I work (convenient) said that the first is more than just an oil change at 7500; they rotate tires and check a few things, computer diag Normally cost like $125 or something. Toyota tech says every 5000/3mon miles; they put a sticker in my car! Scion says every 7500/7mon, all they pay for! Dealership said first one at 3000 is a very good idea, suggested I use the online coupon (-$25) and BTW the FR-S oil change is about $30 more than a regular Toyota car (more expensive oil they carry in quarts) which is about the same price as Jiffy Lube LOL!! Obviously varies from Dealership to Dealership. 7 months?? In the old days many cars came with "break-in" oil, I forget what was different. That hasn't been the case in 2 decades! You cant change your oil enough!! FORGET about viscosity, that's not a problem anymore. Changing oil removes DIRT from the motor. Cant be too clean. I do mine every 3 to 5 thousand miles, to all my cars. |

Back again. The dealer did the oil & filter change this morning. Per the service adviser they used Mobil 1 0-20 and rotated the tires, per the 7,500 mi. service at 1540 mi. A bit early for a tire rotation but I got my oil change.

My BRZ have 1600 Km, I will do the same next week. My dealer offers free servicing for oil exchange. In France and Belgium, 0w20 is hard to find. Must Subaru and Toyota dealers use 0w30 or so. I did not want any other than 0w20. So I buy my own 0w20 (Motul Eco-Lite). They agree to use oil I bring them.

I paid out of pocket for my first oil change at 9xx the dealer thought I was crazy but they said hey if you will pay for it whatever we will do it. I will take it in at 7500 and get back on track. I figure paying for the first one was worth it better safe than sorry.
