FRS fogs using BRZ stalk

when I do the fog light mod, I'm going to order up the tundra/corolla stalk, which has been described as a straight swap for the existing stalk.

now, what I need help understanding is: is there a relay/place for a relay hiding somewhere in the engine compartment that I can hook the lamp harness up to when the stalk is installed -or- do I have to pass wires in through the firewall and somehow connect the switch wires from the lamp/relay harness up to the stalk? If it's the second scenario, which/where are the wires that you need to splice into? On an OEM harness near the steering column?

Any clarification (or pics!) will help...

On US cars you cannot turn on the fogs without the driving lights being on. So no, the fogs do not work independently of the driving lights. I wish they did though.

The way I have mine hooked up I can turn the fogs on independently of the running lights/head lights. The fog light indicator in the dash does not come on unless your headlights are on though.

Does the fog light for the brz fit on the bezel of the frs? Iono if its too small to fit on the bezel or not. Just quick question. Sorry

Honestly I'm not 100% sure but I believe the OEM BRZ/FRS fogs are the same. So it should fit if they are.

I wouldn't run it independently like that since you run the risk of discharging your battery if you forget to turn them off, and without any warning chime it's only a matter of time when that happens. Plus you really should be using a relay instead of running it off the stalk

I understand what you're saying and I've thought about it. Honestly I'm not concerned with forgetting it. I'm really OCD so I check even when I don't touch the lights at all. And in case it does happen I carry and jump box.

You only have to pass one wire through the firewall if you're using the stalk, tap it to the white wire (pin 4 if I remember correctly) on the stalk connector. Take note that this is a negative trigger wire

With this info, some learning of how a negative trigger circuit works and the pics from Sco2355's original post, I think I've got it figured out...

I'll try to draw up a diagram and post it for review -- if it's correct, it could help others out too...

Also, assuming we're hooking up a pair of 55w halogen lamps, what relay & fuse amperage should we be using? I can add that info to the diagram if it makes sense to

Just to let you know, wiring it up this way will only let the foglights come on with the low beams. They will NOT come on with the running lights, and they will turn off when you switch to high beams. Just an FYI.

Yes I am aware of that. But that is the only way to go for you US guys if you want the fog light indicator in the cluster to light up. Or you can do it the way the OP did it, run it independently in which case you risk forgetting to turn them off.

Fortunately for me, I have a JDM/ECE spec car so fogs come on with running lights and stay on with high beams
