So why is it harder to see red cars like our own? From what I understand, they are easier to see when you are looking at them, however it is much easier to miss them when its in your peripheral vision (less color sensitivity). I'm no expert, just relaying personal experience, so I could be wrong. But if Red cars were harder to see across the board, why do you have urban legends that say that red cars are pulled over by cops more often?

Similar situation happened with my old car 2 weeks ago but involving a 3rd party paper recycling company that my company contracts. Dude driving a big 18 wheeler completely takes apart the passenger side mirror and worse part is he drove off knowing what he did. (neighbor told me this happened). I called the company spoke to the supervisor, they gave me the run around for a week until I filed a complaint with their regional vice president. Then they cut me a check to take care of everything.

I am glad no one was physically hurt.

That sucks man.... looks like they should total it. My FRS had 12k in damage to the rear end/rear driver side quarter panel. If they had to replace the quarter panel the car would have been totaled.... your car is also worth less now... I got 5 grand in diminished value on my car. Make sure to make a claim on it! (My car isn't a reconstructed title) Don't believe the insurance company or body shop who says "your car isn't worth less BECAUSE IT IS NOW."

Your car will look like this....

but mine was rear end so good luck....

(also keep in mind all that side damage is from the ripple of the impact. These cars are made to crunch around use.... hope there isn't much damage under that!)

Been down the road with 3 cars in the past. All have been hit, by people that said they could not see it. At least there is science to support it.

I think you misunderstand wave energy. Red is a color in the visible wave spectrum. It has the largest wavelength and the smallest frequency. It does technically have weaker energy...but This doesnt have anything to deal with actually seeing it, unless the people you're referring to are color blind.

Not to derail but I recently sat on a jury where we denied a diminished value claim. The owner was happy with the fully restored vehicle and he had no desire to sell it, so basically claiming it had lost value was incorrect since the market is what sets the value of things. He was 100% happy with it therefore its value was essentially 100%. So basically if he doesn't plan on selling his FR-S (and therefore actually experiencing a possible failure of sale due to diminished value) then its value is just as intangible, and he may get denied and waste his time as well. Might even have court costs to pay.

Depends how much damage is done... My car had 12k in damage on a 25k car. I was also out of a car for 3-4 months while parts came in from japan. Also 4/4 dealerships I went to marked down my car 25% of value due to the accident after it happened. Another 3 more grand and my insurance company would have totaled the car. Plus I live in Oregon so there is nothing in court here. My insurance company accepted my claim and paid me within 2 weeks. Just incase he later wants to sell the car you might as well get the money while you can.

*edit* every state has different laws or ways of seeing diminished value

My point is that it's not about the numbers. How much is the shirt on your back worth right now? Nothing or everything, depending on how YOU feel about it. But try to sell it and you see what the real value is in real-time, because then whether or not you get what you feel is right, or more or less, depends on the market. It's good that your insurance company gave you more money, you've certainly paid into them. My point is that it's not cut and dry every time, value is intangible unless defined by something else. A wrecked and restored vehicle that is in high demand and hard to get could easily increase in value, it's all supply and demand.

This is just 100% wrong.

Red cars have the highest insurance rates because they are associated with flashy sports cars...

Anyway, black cars reflect the least amount of light so going by your "science" they should be the ones that are least visible (and they are). Hell, black isnt even on the visible spectrum!!! Going by your logic they are invisible!
