Busy weekend swapping parts and tuning… almost complete with the Vigilant CAI family… that should be posted by Friday.
Thanks for all the pm’s and calls about re-mapping and choosing the best map for your car. I’m hammering through the map selection guide, but if you have questions before it’s done, don’t hesitate to message me or give us a call. Big picture… none of the maps will hurt anything and you can try any appropriate map (remember the intake is the key to which map family you’re working in). If the car likes the map, it will run smoothly and pull strong everywhere. If the car doesn’t like the map (too much timing and/or too little fuel for your specific car/octane combination) you’ll feel flat spots and may throw a flashing CEL. If it does, no harm/no foul… just (1) go back to what worked well previously or (2) choose a map with more fuel and/or less timing or (3) go to a higher octane fuel. As soon as you change the map back, the car will immediately revert to the original Unichip performance level. Cheers |

I think the 92 octane is for 91.. At least that is what he said a few pages back.

also if you guys have questions about map switching (at least with the flux2), please let me know. I am back in town now, and since tax season is almost up, I have a little free time. |

Damn, this system sounds too good to be true. Right now I just have a drop in filter (K&N), but I'm looking to add a Perrin CAI and a catback exhaust (TBD). My question is: will the tune for "drop in filter only" increase output or really change the overall performance much? I wouldn't expect too much, it's just a drop in... I'm just wondering because I'll make this purchase sooner before I get my other goodies if it really helps. Thanks!

The Unichip will do very nicely with just a drop in… a large part of the power gain comes from additional ignition timing which has nothing to do with the intake or exhaust modifications.
If you also get the download cable, you have everything you need when/if you do get an intake… reprogramming takes about a minute. Cheers |

Installed my unichip this weekend that just past. Install was quick and easy. Unichip was very helpful with helping install the remapping program on my laptop.
Thanx to Erin for all the help. Thanx Jack for recommending me to try the 92 octance with standard fuel and timing plus. I enjoy the sublte change to the vehicle. I have the greddy intake and sp exhaust setup with the map program mention above for my map 1. For Map 0, I have 92 octane with standard fuel, standard timming. I ran map 0 for two days and was impressed by the pick up in the rpm ranging from 3k to 6.5k. Switched to map 1 for two days and was enjoying the car more. The car revs faster under load and the rpms seems to move a bit faster. When i Punch the car at 3k on I can feel the car take in the air on the greddy intake with ease. Unlike before the unichip, youll punch the car and it will lag a little and you can hear the car suck in all the air, but the rpm is barely climbing up. Not now, It climbs well. You hear the intake, u feel the car move and see the rpm climb all at the same time. Makes the car a blast to drive. I've punched on the freeway going sixty five. I punched on third gear at 2.5k. From a stop light i punched it. entering a freeway i punched it. Good times. Not expecting a huge amount of power from this setup. Just looking at freeing up the intake and exhaust on the vehicle. This Unichip did it. |

Jack,
Is there a dummy map or a way to easily switch off the Unichip without physically removing it? I'd like to be able to easily compare OEM with the tuned maps. |
