I'm not knocking it. I mean for those who want a couple ponies and the something very quiet, it's perfect. But those who want a growl or some kind of noise, it might be a bit disappointing.
What's up bro?? Haha...

I'm sure the Overpipe plays a big role in sound as it really improves flow and gets rid of the restrictive cat.. Right now I'm waiting on the resonated Catback from Perrin. (The black ones have been back ordered for months) I've installed the catted front pipe and the Perrin Overpipe. I can tell the difference in sound and performance over stock but its not a huge difference by any means. I personally chose the catted front pipe and the resonated Catback because I'm installing the Borla header. The factory header has two huge cats and once you install an aftermarket header the sound gets obnoxious. I personally don't mind a loud exhaust if it provides the performance I'm after but I live in a nice neighborhood and I don't think my neighbors will appreciate the cold starts with a header and non res setup when I decide to drive the BRZ.

If you like your exhaust on the loud side and you have no plans of running an aftermarket header, go non res and make some noise!! If you have plans of installing a header, I would recommend the high flow cat on the front pipe and a resonated Catback for street use. There is no difference in power between the two setups according to most manufacturers so it boils down to personal preference.

Just my .02.....

I agree with you that it is the most quiet out of the aftermarket exhausts I've seen/heard. That said, it's a far cry from sounding stock. Even if the decibel level were the same (I haven't measured, but it's not), the note and sound are totally different.

I was looking for a very quiet exhaust since I don't want to be "that guy" when I leave for work before dawn in my neighborhood. You know, the guy that makes everybody roll over, pull a pillow over their head and mutter sleepily "I hate that guy and his car". This exhaust was just what I was looking for, and I still have to wait for it to warm up fully before I feel like it's quiet enough.

@2forme, but we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

I'm not trying to rip into it at all. It's a great exhaust. But I guess I need to hear one with an overpipe. A lot of people would count the quietness as a GOOD thing. If my complex ever starts complaining about my exhaust, I'll certainly consider a Perrin haha.

An aftermarket exhaust will always be much louder on cold start than it is a few minutes/miles after start up. Brings back mixed memories of my 3" straight through exhaust on the WRX.

This was my first venture into Subaru. I really wish they didn't run max cam timing on cold start. I thought something was wrong with the car at first lol.

No, that's just how we make our presence known. You could hear me from a mile away on cold start and full throttle.

Interesting how you always have to be right. I saw the same when you'd argue with Gem on a daily basis. I saw it in your "App Radio sucks" thread, then you turn around and love App Radio.

In this case, you don't even own the system...and are disagreeing with those who actually live with the sound every day. Just like Pete said above, we'll have to agree to disagree.

It is NOT near stock quiet level. My wife, kids and other friends have commented how much louder it is now (they preferred it much quieter). Yes, it is a quiet system...but NOT stock quiet level. I have nothing against you, just don't want others to get the impression that it is just as quiet as stock.

What version do you have? I've already admitted that I have yet to hear one with an overpipe. My friend has a catback, resonated.

The app radio was a proof of concept. I'm returning the unit and going back to a dedicated unit. LOL

Yes...I knew that from Sony's installation/review thread. It's still very different living with the exhaust every day. When my wife is in the car, I am always worried that it's too loud. When my buddy is in the car, I think it's too quiet. I find it funny how everyone who owns one says it's quiet but definitely louder than stock. Yet, some of you can't accept that.

I'm bowing out of this pointless conversation. At some point, it becomes pointless to argue...especially with those who don't own the system, and prefer loud obnoxious exhausts. I've owned loud exhausts on my cars and bikes. Over time, it becomes less and less enjoyable...and more of a nuisance. Enjoy your exhausts. No hard feelings.

I don't have a Perrin and I'm not saying it's quiet or loud, just confirming that 2forme isn't an e-joker/clown. You want quiet? Get a Nameless offset axleback.

It's just a matter of opinion. Wasn't really trying to argue. I'm just used to louder exhausts.

It's cool. For the record, I would like to confirm that 2forme is, indeed and contrary to what OrbitalEllipses says, an e-joker/clown.
