Talking Pulling the trigger this afternoon, some last minute questions.

Hi guys,

My name is Shu, I currently own a Mazda 3 and I am going to buy a FRS soon (today, in a few hrs). For the longest time I have been looking at BMW E90 M3, but looking back at reality and see how I don't even own a property yet, I decided to just buy the FRS and call it a day.

Now a few last minute question that I need you guys to help me on!! Thanks before hand!!!

1) So I don't know if I should buy ultramarine blue or black. Black looks good but too popular, ultramarine looks good in sun and I'm just afraid that it would look too dark when it's cloudy outside.

2) Also for the 2 options in Canada. The 500 dollar touchscreen pioneer deck (no gps) and the 350 dollar acostic DPS, are they worth it? Or am I better off using the 850s towards an aftermarket deck?

3) Also I plan to negotiate around 300 dollars off, it's the price range I see most people pay in Canada. Is that reasonable?

4) How much deposit should I pay? The sales guy wanted 1000, I wanted to pay 500...

Thanks,
Shu

UPDATE: ORDER PLACED!!!!! Ultra marine, 6 speed, no other options!

For those of you in Toronto, I placed the order at Scion of Aurora. Cool guys to deal with.

Final Price was 31605.2 - 1000 Grad rebate - 300 discount = 30305.2

5000 Down payment, 732.56 a month for 36 month at 2.7%.

ETA 6-8 weeks

SO EXCITED!!! My first manual car!!! lol

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think some dealerships ask for higher deposits to place higher on the order/wait list. I went to one dealership and they asked for $1k, but went to a second dealership and they asked for $500. The second dealership had a bigger inventory and had more pull with allotment. So maybe the smaller dealerships try to get more inventory with the larger deposits?

Not sure how it is in Canada, but in the US there is no bargaining, no haggling. It's a set price and you pay it, and add extras.

1. Ultramarine won't be as dark as black would be when it's cloudy out.

2. I can't help you there. The standard radio is good enough for me.

3. I put 500 on mine but if you're buying it later on today I can't see what the difference would be. Let them put 1000 on a credit card and at the time of closing the deal let them put it back on your card and include it in your financial arrangement.

And, hello and welcome. Enjoy your new car.

2) Unless you're sold on the "app radio" thing, save your money.

you'll be lucky to be able to buy it for less than msrp, but the most i would pay is msrp.

for the color, i always avoid black cars because you can see imperfections on the paint very easily. the dark blue hides it a little better.

is the car already at the dealer? is the deposit for a pre-order? if it is, make sure it's refundable. as for the amount, it doesn't really make a difference between 500 and 1,000 as none of it will go towards interest.

1) Can't help you with that one.

2) I have the 500 dollar touch screen Pioneer premium audio. I don't think it's a huge difference from the stock sound. I was kind of forced into getting it, since the first batch had them all build in with no option to opt out. I think you can get better aftermarket decks for the money.

3) I wouldn't pay more than MSRP

4) If you're serious and you want to minimize the wait time, then give them at least $1000. Encourages them to get it in sooner (from what I've seen) and less likely to doddle around and get your order in slower.

Hello from Vancouver BC!

1) I got the Ultramarine Blue and I think it looks at its best in cloudy weather O.o its almost a black color with a blue tint which I love, I heart it over the WRX's WRB because its a bit too bright IMO.

2)I got the 500 dollar pioneer HU and honestly its 100% the same in feature as the stock HU but I got it because its already installed in the car, and the better look. Let's just say the stock is a bit "blocky?" I am being generous here LOL
If you want anything more than: AM, FM, HD radio (which is no use in Canada), Pandora, USB, AUX, BTstreaming and hands free, I would recommend get an after market deck.
The DPS I heard is pretty good, I wish I got it in the first place just for the peace of mind. Maybe I'll install it later someday, stock speakers aren't the greatest even using USB to load music.

3)Give it a try, I did with no luck...All I got was a free oil change... Which I think is included in the service manual...

4) The sales guy wanted me to pay $1000 too, but the lady in office only took $500!! I kept quite and got away with it LOL Of course I still paid the full amount on the car, just half the deposit to reserve the car for 3 weeks while I am selling my Z.

Hope that helped

I concur, Ultramarine looks better when it's overcast.

Go with an aftermarket head unit. You can get better than the OEM/dealer-install units for less money.

$500 seems to be the standard for deposits down here, at least.
