Because you don't know what oil they are going to use. Argue with the fact any way you want but unless you're watching them do it you won't know. Anyways oil changes for this car are cheap when you can get a 5qt jug for $25 and a box of filters for next to nothing.

Just drop off the old jug of oil by the service by of a crappy tire. They have to take it by law. Either way that's what i've been told to do by crappy tire.

I have a hoist. We can have a tech day at my house in the spring guys. bring pizza and beer. Gather up your mods over the winter and we can install stuff together. I think another guy on the forum wanted to install a exhaust?

My nsx is just sitting on the hoist right now so as soon as the weather clears up we can use it for a tech day.

Just paid for my first oil change a couple weeks ago (first oil change was free, on my second already). It was about $87 with taxes, disposal fees, etc. I'll definitely be looking at other options for the warmer weather.

so bring your own oil? problem solved? in my situation i dont have a choice. i dont have tools because im deployed so if its just a matter of the oil they use ill supply my own.

i have always changed my own oil on all the cars ive owned. This is my first new car with free maintenance plan. Once the maintenance plan is used up then ill do it myself.

If i had to pay for it i would just do it.

That has nothing to do with what you originally said. You said you don't understand why anyone would change their oil, and then you go on to say you don't have tools to do it. So if you had the tools you'd change your own oil?

i said i dont understand why someone would pay if its free..i never said i dont understand why someone would change their own oil..

Yes like i said, if i wasnt deployed and it was outside the maintenance plan i would. Car came with free maintenance. If i was worried about what oil they use i would bring my own brand. Im not worried about the oil they use.
Whats your point?

I currently pay around 80-90$ to have toyota change the oil in my Yaris (always synthetic). I have always done that. Dislike the hassle of disposing of the old oil (which I do anyways for the bike...) I also don't have the best garage for it and dread making a mess.

Guessing as the BRZ takes more oil it will be more expensive on the new car, but I will try and maintain a relationship with a dealer. As yet I haven't decided which one I will use. Could use some service reviews of the subie dealers in Whitby and Peterborough...

If you have the time and space, I'd say do it yourself. I get the Toyota 0W20 synthetic (it's good oil) right from my dealer for about $60/case of 12. Get the OEM oil filter and drain plug washer from your local Subaru dealer. I have found there to be a huge price difference (almost double) between Subaru and Toyota for the exact same part. You want Subaru part # 15208AA130 for the filter.

I find it annoying if you don't have a garage to do it yourself. The small price to pay isn't that bad to pay.

Got a Fumoto Valve and now oil changes are like a 10 min affair

I went for a oil change at the dealership (was given 2 years worth of free oil changes) and the very 1st one the did they washed my car when I asked them not too and scratched it then tried to blame me for it

do it yourself
