I'm guessing final drive change.

Awesome, I thought I had heard the splines weren't lining up properly when it came to the AT. Thanks for the tip!

PS: Somebody install these when they are available!

i assume with the final drive upgrade the speedo will also have to be recalibrated, and is there anyone working on different gear ratios for the auto trans

Just curious with final drive upgrades, as I have never done one, but I assume they will decrease your mileage some?

Final drive changes should give these cars some more pep, but it will definitely have some negative consequences on the speedo and had milage. I'd still love to see what sort of benefits it would bring though.

Can the speedo be corrected via ECU?

Depending on where you looked, the reviews have the stock car (MT) anywhere from 6.2 seconds to 8+ seconds.

Automobile mag got 6.2: http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...13_scion_fr_s/

Road and Track claims 7.6 seconds:

Reinforcing the moral of the story, which is that driving lessons are the best mod you can possibly buy :P

I assume he meant that the top speed won't be as high because of the new gears.

his is stock. mine has a greddy evo3 exhaust, injen intake, and perrin LW pulley. also both fuel tanks were around the same.
The automatic (one doing the recording) is not in SPORT MODE... the shifts would have come even faster... also, traction control wasn't fully disabled (see the cluster at the end of the 2nd video)... not that it would make a difference, but still.

The auto is upgraded, correct? With a GReddy cat-back and an Injen (hot air) intake and still loses.

Install the stock cold air intake, reset ecu... enable transmission SPORT MODE and it would be a closer race.

Sport mode only matters when it is shifting.. In drive.. When you put it in Manuel mode and do the shifting it doesn't matter.. And with the intake and exhaust I put 175 hp down at the wheels.. I don't see what taking the intake that has proven to be the better one out there off to make it a closer race.. But as I've taken my car to the streets of willow ands tried the sport mode and stuff and it doesn't change anything one bit

To the OP, I went with the AT because MPG. This car is my personal car (my work provides me with a car) so it's the one I take for long trips back to see the parents.

If you're comfortable with a manual and want the max performance from the car then get the manual. I doubt you'll regret it.
Da fuq? Did I just read lol

It's a standard transmission that gets the better fuel mileage. You must be new to cars to assume it's the other way around.

Also, AT's in economy cars will always be slower than their manual counterparts.

All this talk about changing the rear gears to even things up is dumb. You can do the same with the stick - then what? lol.

Actually the A/T gets better mileage than the MT. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12715

This is fast becoming another MT is faster than AT thread. Then someone will come along and post that the Camry V6 is faster than Flash Gordon thread and we'll be in a ton of shit.
