Strange Tapping noise from under car after use

So whenever i get out the car after its on for awhile or I get to a destination I hear a strange tapping noise under the car. Sound like its coming from the front of the car right under everything. The noise is like water drops tapping against a metal sheet at the bottom and its been haping since around 2k . Now at 3k I'm getting worried because apparently its not normal. Even when the ac is off the whole ride the sound still happens. Does this sound happen to anyone else. Don't have a lift to check and it doesn't seem to leave a puddle anywhere so maybe its on top of some plate near the engine. Does anyone else have/hear this problem?

Sounds like a common complaint...perfectly normal. The exhaust on this car uses a lot of heat shielding around the exhaust manifold, and that sound is the heat shields contracting as they cool. It is normal for any car, but especially noticeable on this one. I have become used to it.

Probably expanded exhaust metal contracting as it cools down.

The expended metal heat shields contract as they cool down.

No, this has to be a quality control issue with Toyota. How can they release a car with this many problems? Take it to the dealer and make them replace the whole exhaust

/sarcasm

Normal. My WRX did the same thing; as other's have said, it's metal contracting after it's been heated up. All cars do this, some are noisier.

Mine does it too , esp after spirited driving. Sounds like metal as it cools down.

Normal on mine too. Definitely sounds like hot metal contracting in cooler temperatures. I compare it to that feeling you get after you finish a hard workout and you take a moment to take a deep breath and stretch...

...before hopping back in the driver's seat and going another few sprints down your favorite twisty roads.
