You'll have to add an aftermarket sensor/gauge. Also unless there is some kind of bad failure, you can use the oil temp to gauge pressure pretty well.
There isn't really any big need for a pressure sensor, but the switch is definitely necessary. And now the temp would help out boosted people such as myself quite a bit.

The switch is useless for the most part, it goes off at such a low pressure the engine is would be toast by the time it actually lit, if you are driving it hard.

I've always installed a pressure gauge in my turbo Subarus.

Without further delay, here's the info:
OBD2 Mode and PID: 2101
Minimum Value: -40
Maximum Value: 215 (this is just the maximum that this location can support, which does not mean the sensor can read that high)
Scale factor: x1
Unit type: C
Equation: AC-40 (no space between A and C; "AC" is the location within the response)
OBD Header: 7E0 (Auto also works, but seems to take longer)

Just as an aside, I don't know if it's my OBD adapter, or the Header needs to be tweaked (corrected), or if the response is not always long enough but every once in a while I'll get a reading of 189 or 1840 which are both incorrect. I'm not familiar enough with torque to figure out where these glitches are coming from.

Enjoy!
Andrey

When you update the first post perhaps we should try get an admin to sticky this under the DIY section or something as this is really useful.

I've already updated it, onto the second post which will be strictly for pids, i have put in my OP a request for sticky, but I might contact an admin

Agreed, extremely useful and cheap alternative way to monitor the engine etc, which is the reason why I originally made the thread

Can't give enough credit to andreyiv for his hard work. Also to Yruyur for his reverse engineering ideas, if it wasn't for Yruyur's issues with his phone he probably would have beat andreyiv to it, but none the less hard work has paid off and hopefully we can reverse engineer more useful PID's

Cheers,
Brody

Well, as you may already know, I still don't have an FR-S , should have mine at the end of April/May sometime. What other sensors do we have that are recorded but we don't have access to in Torque? I think I remember someone asking about monitoring the TPMS? Not sure :P

It'd be nice if we can get oil pressure, but it seems what we thought was a pressure sensor is simply a switch to indicate low pressure

I'm keeping score so far for PIDS :P,

Toyota: 0
FT86Club: 1 :happy0180:

Also has any checked on a BRZ to see if the PID is the same as the FR-S/GT86?

Brody

Incorrect - it has OEM oil temp sensor

I have contacted ichitaka05 in regards to have this thread stickied, his reponse was that he would have to discuss with the fellow moderators and if they deem it worthy it will be stickied. Let's hope for a sticky, the more views we get the more possibility of having addinitional members help reverse engineer other PID's.

Cheers,
Brody

Works great with my BRZ, big thanks to andreyiv :happy0180:

Here's a link to the results of a full PID scan I did the other day: http://pastebin.com/D1gkE1f5

Has any one looked into the iPhone version app, called: Engine Link - OBD II?
Would the inputs/instruction listed here for the oil temp output be identical for the iPhone app?
Any exerience...?

Anything OBD-II PID will work with anything OBD-II PID, so yes.

Of course, if only the Engine Link app lets you customize your own PID. Which they should..

ELM327 is what im using, got it from ebay for $9. Make sure whatever device you are using supports blueray.

Speaking of sticky this thread, I think the moderators should instead create a new DIY/how to thread of their own and list shortcut links for everything useful that comes up. This way we wont get too much sticky clutter in the near future and everything we need is just a click away.
