This is exactly why I bought the A/T. I can always use paddles or the stick if I want more manual control.

My best tank was just over 31 mpg on a road trip out west with cruise set to 80 mph.

I usually get from 190 to 210 miles a tank (~10 gallons) weekly... but I'm running thicker oil and max performance tires, and more concerned with driving fun than fuel economy.

If ur really "driving like an old lady" and getting 20mpg, something is wrong with your car, see the dealer. Any chance u can record the gauges as u drive for a short while and post it?

Try resetting your mpg avg and starting fresh, maybe the car idled an extremely long time at the dealership before you picked it up? Im just stabbing in the dark here.

That's just it, I don't do anything but drive the car, no special attention to fuel economy other than tracking it, which I do on all my cars.

With me, my guess is that my commute probably averages between 45 and 55MPH most of the time with minimal stop and go. In my 40 mile on-way commute I probably spend less than 10 minutes at full idle on most trips. I can see dips in the overall MPG when I have excessive traffic in the week.

I think I'm just sitting in the sweet spot for the engine/tranny combo.

Well I go 1km from home to the train station every morning. And been able to make a tank last a week. Or about 750km. It's not hard to find a reason to go on a long drive in Calgary. But with having to warm up during cold snaps I could make it go farther. Probably burn more gas warming up than I do driving to and from "work".

I don't have back to back comparo data with "foot" vs "cruise". But I think the key here is *hills*. I was traveling from Seattle to Eastern WA and there's 3 big ranges to go over. What happened; I would fill up and be going along at 70+MPH getting 35+ (on the read out 35-38mpg) with my *foot* but then as soon as I put on cruise control the readout just started dropping: 36, 35, 34, 33, 32.. then level off. This was the same for the trip out and the trip back.

BTW: when I fill up and do the manual calculation my Avg MPG readout is consistently .7-1.3 mpg high compared to real world calculation. I always reset my avg mpg readout with every fillup. On a clear traffic time of the day I can drive from Everett to Puyallup (about 70 miles) and get 36-37mpg with my right foot doing 60-65mph.

Not the data you wanted to look but I hope this helps.

I reset mine every fill up too, also I notice mine is about 1-2 mpg off.. Also on the high side like yours.. When I'm traveling back and forth to my parents.. 35 miles one way and slightly up hill there down hill back. It's closer to one mpg off from real world.. When I'm heading into fort Irwin which has a nice big mountain pass to go over, I'm closer to two mpg off from real world.. My long drives from Barstow to El Paso.. El Paso to Killeen tx then back to paso and back to Barstow.. All those long distance averages were about .5-.7 off..

My best ever was coming back from Laguna seca and filled up in this city on top of a pass, there was a lot of traffic, but I got 58 on the readout all the 100 and so miles here.. But it was 55 or less all down a long straight mountain road downhill..

I thikn I'm in the 34-36mpg camp. I can hyper-mile her when I'm on the highway and traffic is sucky.

My hypothesis is that the Avg MPG trip indicator is skewed high do to the "off-throttle-127mpg" computation. I think if the off-throttle computation was reduced to 99mpg (like it is in other vehicles) the Avg MPG trip indicator may be closer to real world calculations.

This is just a hypothesis.
