We are in this to make money and provide good parts to customers. We know that it can be made cheaper by customers sourcing their own parts and figuring it out them selves. We know that some companies have already copied this and are offering similar items, and finally we know that our competitors are going to ride on the coat tails of our part after we release it. It does me a few less sales for us, but in the end, that is ok. Our kit will be complete, have instructions, have support and customers service backing it up, which does add to the value for many customers.

We have shipped about 10 kits out to customers and we will be finally releasing the kit early Febuary. The price will be $689.99 and yes we have sales as do our wholesale customers.

Yes and no.. You can do it for less, I've done a setup with a larger Mocal cooler (19 row), more hose (to have extra), with remote oil filter (pointless on this car), etc for hundreds less than this setup. If we could have gotten a pre-made kit (that met our needs) we would have paid more for it but all the pre-made kits for integras used crappy small coolers (9 row IIRC) and cost almost twice as much as the parts...

However, without the tool dealing with SS braided hoses is a PITA. Having to measure, route, etc can be time consuming so what you are really paying for is their time assembling the lines, figuring out the routing, etc before hand and so on. It's the cheapest "boxed" solution on the market AFAIK.

As with many things, you can do it cheaper yourself, it's just a question of what's more important to you. For me, I'll be doing it myself probably since I have all those parts out of the race car sitting on a shelf already. I actually wouldn't mind buying the hoses from them because I *hate* dealing with the hoses. The special tool might make it easier and would be the only way I'd do that again... I use aeroquip reusable hose ends and have never had a leak, no clamps, etc.

My problem with the mocal adapter/sandwich plate is that I don't see any provision for oil temp and/or pressure and that annoys me some. I really don't want a stack of THREE sandwich plates (spacer, oil temp/pressure, cooler adapter)

Yes I can pull some data from CANBUS but I'd rather have that data in the Defi gauges I have sitting around collecting dust.

Cliff Notes: DIY is almost always cheaper, but the support, ease of install, documentation and customer service can make up the difference in cost. And I have a lot of stuff sitting around collecting dust lol

there is a custom adapter they machined that you would need to fab up too, plus the feet Perrin has machined(cnc) makes mounting a breeze, its a tested solution, by the time you are done DIY its still $500+ by my math, costs..

something goes to perrin for putting it together testing it and thats only if you buy it from them.
Pic of said feet? The cooler looks like a standard Mocal/Setrab/etc where it's mounted to whatever that black panel is in the car. I'm just not sure if we are talking about the same part or not They are just using the Mocal spacer/adapter it looks like. There's no reason for them to make their own filter spacer/adapter, would be silly IMO.

Yeah I work 70-80 hrs a week and if your looking at cost of DIY per hour, it's cheaper for me to get the kit then take time off work to do it and make it perfect like I would want. But yeah I can't proceed with the rest of my engine work till I get this installed, burnt oil smell isn't my favorite. Sooo sooner this gets on the market the better I say... Any other company making a bolt on cooler like this or is perrin the only one smart enough to rebadge someone else's product?

HKS and IIRC Greddy both make oil cooler setups but I think both are more universal (ie not sure if the hoses are pre-cut or not) and both are more expensive.

Not sure about anyone else.
