Umm, this is what you said. I suppose I could be interpreting it wrong, but this is quite condescending whether it was your intention or not, as well as misleading someone who may have minimal experience taking the inside of their car apart.

I think it's easy enough to do if you take your time. Rushing it won't help and telling someone it's only 45" AT MOST is not helping them and just making them feel lame- I posted this for DIYers, not professional installers.

There's a HUGE difference between 45 minutes and 4 hours. I'm not telling anyone to "rush" anything. If you're DIY then take 2 weeks for all I care, its your time not mine. I was just surprised that it took 4 hours when the car is so little and running the wires takes only a few minutes.

You also made a comment that it was a pita to pass the wire through the trunk grommet and if you had to do it over you would cut the plug then re attach. I would never recommend this to anyone without tons of experience soldering, heat shrinking, and knows about video signal and shielded wires etc..these are small wires that the majority of people will screw up. I'd suggest a passing a long zip tie through the grommet from the opposite direction and then electrical tape the plug to the zip tie nice and tight and pull it through. A little soap helps them slide if they're sticking. I installed a Rydeen camera on my BRZ and I didn't need to use these techniques as the plug passed through the grommet with no issues at all but if someone is having a hard time I would offer that advice instead of cutting the plug off.

Lastly, if you're not a professional then why would you be writing a how to for other diy'ers? Blind leading the blind...

@chadstyle

Dude, you're the one who started hating on my install and what I did. You should be nicer about what you say in someone else's post.

And, um, how many DIY'ers are professionals? I wasn't telling people how to install the camera (this was done in other posts) I was just showing my own install so people can see how this camera looks to help people who have the skills to install something simple like this BUT DON'T DO IT EVERYDAY BECAUSE WE HAVE OTHER JOBS.

I'm just trying to be helpful to people dude just like I've benefited from others. I'd appreciate it you didn't keep insulting me (Blind leading blind, reallly???)

Yeah, I know what you mean. But what can you do? They could key your car and break your windows too. Some people really suck, you know?

It totally makes backing up so much easier! And this camera is so clear night and day- awesome.

My Acura has a factory backup camera- it's awful compared to this one.

I paid about $135 at the time. It's about $140-150 now. It really is nicely made, but it does cost more.

I just ordered this same camera through Amazon and noticed that it lists the operating voltage as 14.4V (9.0 - 16 V allowable). Were you able to use the normal 6v harness from SVXdc, or did you have to tap into a 12v source somewhere?

No I had to tap a 12v source and the wiring to power the camera is back up at the head unit, so you'll have to tap a wire from the harness which is pretty easy.

pulling the wire through the rubber tubing at the trunk is a major pain- I would suggest lubricating it first!!!

Good luck with the install!

OK...an old thread, but I have an important question....

Can you describe or post a photo that shows which wire you tapped into?
And, forgive this question but I don't know much about this stuff.... I know the camera will now come on when you go into reverse, but is the camera on all the time with this power tap? IF so, is that a bad thing?
