As a side note, some companies try to steer clear of people who just want minimums, as people who only want the minimums (and likely have little regard for insurance) are sometimes viewed as being statistically more likely to be involved in some activity that results in an insurance claim/loss, and every so often there are carriers that actually charge more for policies quoted with just the minimum coverages compared to if they had selected something better.

The same thing applies for physical damage deductibles. It blows my mind when people only get $1,000 deductibles (unless they're either young or have bad driving histories, as those scenarios will show more significant differences between each deductible option).

Its a sports car... and insurance companies know that...
@jmaryt .... not sure how you did it... but in ga, you arent driving off the lot without proof of insurance... and you tags are revoked if you cancel your insurance.... you might get away for a month, but cops get behind me all the time... 2 tonight while I went out for dinner. They run ur tag, they know immediately you have no insurance... and its a $650 fine plus automatic IMPOUND!

Oh no doubt... I had to have the insurance papers faxed to the dealership before I took delivery of it. And our tag registration is in a computer database that shows valid insurance. We don't even have to have proof of insurance here, they run your tag and show ur drivers license... its all on the computer from there.

i believe all the states do it that way, because it's the law,but not here.proof of insurance is NOT necessary,so not monitored in a data base.that said,it's certainly foolish NOT to have insurance to protect yourself, and i will be the first to agree, however,my admittedly (flawed logic) is that if i get involved in an accident,it will be the other guy's fault, and as such, his carrier will be on the hook for damages.i am aware that this thought process leaves much to be desired, but again,i have been able (up to this point in time) to escape unscathed,so to speak, from the wrath of other motorists.i suspect that at some time in the future this will all come crashing down on top of my head, but for now,i feel i have successfully thwarted the demon's thrust. just sayin'

When registering a car in VA you can elect to not have insurance. There is a one time fee associated with it though. However, most loan companies require full coverage on the car until it's paid off.

Hopefully you don't care about your credit and dont own any assets. Driving without insurance is the dumbest thing you can do financially.
