You can't spin the shaft in the housing with the stock struts or bad things will happen, so don't use an impact to take off the top nut or re-tighten it.

Where were you a few weeks ago?!?! You're the only one (besides gmookher) that is willing to split them up. I'm glad to see you're willing to do this, and hope it works out for you. Most of us are just needing one strut. I can't imagine someone buying a full set, when there are so many other options out there.

Kudos to you for being willing to split them up!

Thanks, i figured that people seem to be having issues with their stock struts so it might be good to just offer them separately.

The struts should be covered under the 3/36k warranty. So this puzzles me...

The stock struts aren't bad, but when you burn the seals out by spinning the shaft while you change springs, they don't last long.

Gotcha.

Which springs were you putting on? Most lowering springs would kill the OEM Struts anyway.

Not sure why this is so puzzling to so many people. Struts are leaking AFTER springs are being installed. Either improper installs (spinning the shaft) or struts can't handle the springs. For many of us, it's not worth putting all the OE springs back onto the struts/shocks...hiding the fact that modifications were done to the struts...then hoping Toyota/Subaru will cover it. Much easier to just pay the $75-100.

Yeah, unless you are doing a very mild drop, no point in re-using the stock struts. Over the years we've found that except for the Eibach Prokit and similar kits you will prematurely wear out your struts anyway by putting lowering springs on. Having installed 1000s of sets of springs over the past 12 years it always amazes us when people do so little research and then wonder why their struts blew out

I don't think any struts have "blown" except for anything but improper install. The stock struts can handle mild lowering springs just fine.

Yeah? Interesting. I'm not going to get in a pissing match but having installed 1000s of sets and seen the results, the struts can't handle much lowering over the long run. In our experience, most lowering springs will wear out struts in about 30k miles, at least they do on the WRXs and STis and LGTs we've seen.
