I want a soft ride

FRS front springs are softer and will swap right over. I'd love to get my hands on a set of BRZ front springs to see if I'd like the slight increase enough to leave it at that. Maybe we should talk more about this after Christmas.

I doubt the impreza's springs were much softer given the weight. I wonder is the guys at @Racecomp Engineering have measured them and would be willing to share?

Just keep the stock springs and move up to a high quality damper and 16" wheels. Those are the two best things you can do for comfort.

I drove a car with 12/10k springs but with very high quality dampers and over smaller bumps it didn't feel any worse than my car stock. Obviously with big hits it's going to be stiff, but comfort is all in the damping. This car is already sprung pretty soft. Wait for some nice Bilstein struts or do the Koni inserts tuned to the stock springs and I bet your comfort level and handling will increase.

You're not going to find softer aftermarket springs unless you get something like a custom GC setup with 2.5" coils, and all of those springs are linear rate so they intrinsically won't ride as well as your progressive stock setup.

I agree 16" wheels with 50 or 60 series tires will do it. Also maybe KW V3's at the softest setting. Neither of those options are cheap.

Good point, but Subaru Impreza Sport 2012 is not much heavier, and that’s the level of comfort I want.

1-all BS aside, iirc the front coils on the FRS are softer than BRZ front. Consider those to soften the ride. That may get you just what you need in your BRZ.

2-also see if you can find a Continental ExtremeContact DWS Ultra High Performance All-Season in a 17, or as other posted, go to a 16" rim and a 50 or 55 series tire in 16"

You want all-season versatility (including light snow traction) and are willing to trade some dry and wet traction and handling to get it. It will be softer than the michelins, thinner sidewall, less NVH but more prone to failure if driven hard, but after FRS coils, softer rubber carcass may help.

3-if the two steps above do not work, you can take the seat to a upholstery shop and see if they can re-spring it, and get some tuch-cush that way before you decide you want a bmw 3 series for the comfort you seek

Something close to an impreza is probably achievable. There will be some loss of handling but I'm sure you know that.

Agree 100% on the first two although i would try the 16" wheels and tires before messing with the suspension. I have my stock FR-S front coil's i'd sell cheap if somebody with a BRZ wants to try it.

No offense but maybe the twins aren't for you "if" a soft ride is a high priority. I always liked the IS300 for being soft and yet sporty so that can be a consideration.

If you're set on a coupe maybe a G35. If your set on the twins then what others suggested such as tires would be the best bet but I doubt it will make things completely different. I think a set of quality tires and high quality coilovers with soft springs and great dampening would make things great. I also believe a high quality set of coilovers could actually improve handling. Noise reduction could also give a sense of "luxury" but that would effect performance.

My BRZ with 16" steelies/snow tires has the exact soft, wallowy, boring, ride that you're looking for.

I can't wait to be back on 17's with summer tires.
