Glad I could help.

It is shielded. There is a part that when I remove the grommet is exposed, but it's not touching the other cable. I think that cable has to be super sensitive, because I think they are shielded enough for this not to happen. It will be interesting for sure, hopefully I can extra insulate!

Ok, i need the electrical experts here. I tried disconnecting the sensor, i isolated the cables from themselves completely, I disconnected the taillight. Every time the same result. If the car is started with the lights on, the car goes on limp mode. If the car is started with the lights off, it starts up normally as it should.

If the lights are on, and the bulb in the fog light kit is removed, the car turns on normal. So, definintely there is something telling the car that bulb is there, and if it is on before starting the car, it goes on limp mode.....

HELP!!

Try a smaller bulb in the fog light, one which draws less current? Sound like the car might be detecting the added current as if it were a short in the rear lights wire. Exactly where is the power for the fog light coming from?

Its coming from the tail lights normal light and brake light connection. I need to find a different bulb that fits so I can try that. I tried the OEM turn signals, but those would not lit up.

@johnb831 to keep you on the loop of what's going on, I kept testing to see what specific conditions were the problem and which weren't. I've kept working with Fn'A and they have been extremely helpful and supportive throughout my testing.

I found later on yesterday that if you turn the car on with the brake light active, the car starts fine. This singles out the problem being specifically when the "fog light" is on with the taillights before starting the car, and you start it then the car starts in limp mode.

So now FnA is looking into how to mask the light on startup, probably some type of time delay.

Swap in LED lights everywhere to save current, maybe? Or unhook the light from the marker lights and use only the brake light?

I like their Kit 3, so I'm rather interested in the solution to your problem.

Don't jump the gun on swapping in LED's everywhere to save current; We've had multiple frs/brz's working without issues with our kits.
After plenty of talking back and forth, we paid for @Sportsguy83 to ship the kit back where we'll test it and find out what exactly is going wrong with his to make it do that. @b.e We're going to find out whether or not his issue is BRZ Limited related or just a faulty kit, but you will have no problems with your FRS for sure. Our FRS tester hasn't even had a flicker in the last few months!
