i was talking about aftermarket 17'' vs aftermarket 18'', not stock 17'' vs aftermarket 18''. for example, rpf1 17'' vs rpf1 18'', i see no reason to get the 18'' unless you have a big brake kit.

Search function works wonders. Also look in the fitment sticky at the top of the board next time.

And I hope those aren't the wheels you're looking at... Because what you posted is 4 lug.

Do you guys agree with going aftermarket 17 rather than 18? (Ie 17x8 vs 18x8) for performance? But for looks as well I like the fit of an 18 and nothing larger.

You can get lightweight 18's, so no I don't agree that 17's are the definitive must-have size for performance. For saving money? Definitely 17's. For staying in a particular stock class? Yes.

aesthetically, i think 18 looks too big on those tiny brake rotors. you can always upgrade to a big brake kit, but that's an entirely different story.

that should fit ok, depending on what the front offset is and the tire.

but the rim size alone is safe

I will upgrade the brakes and suspension if I swap to larger wheels. But if I stuck to 17" I could just keep my brakes and suspension...to support a wheel assumingly similar Specs and possibly lighter weight. Hmmm I'll have to decide what I'd want to spend my money on. Once I buy those wheels...I buy those tires...haha.

I bet you could stretch them onto a 17x10 MAX. It would look retarded. 17x9 would look pretty dumb too. 17x8 would fit fine.

Whtefrs has a post in the member classified wheel section that shows his 17x9 Rotas for sale with stock tires on them.

If you're into stretch, I guess its acceptable, but I personally wouldn't do it. The stock Primacy's are pretty narrow to begin with.

Here's the pic:

17" +45 v +35

Ok, so im read so many thread that i got a headache after weeks - let me ask this a different way. I dont want to hear about how much more flush 35 is then 45 - i get that. i also get the pretty factor of how it looks better.

if i go with 17x7.5 and were to go with the 35 offset - what is the pro-con in the handling dept ? I love the stock handling - which is why i wont go to 18x8.. i heard too heavy and different handling characteristics.

btw, im not a track guy but i love to drive agressively and want to keep the stock feel with better tires.

so , that being said - if i were to get new 17x7.5 @ 225/45-17 -- what do i do ? recommendations ? 35 or 45/48 ? will the 35 do anything bad ? ive heard everything from putting extra strain on the wheel bearings to changing the handling characteristiccccs. ugh too much info

basically the +35 is going to give you a wider track

engineers/scientists please correct me if I'm wrong but:
all else equal you'll get more cornering power but slightly more steering effort
track will be increased by 20mm compared to the +45, which is only like 3/4 of an inch?

honestly it doesn't sound like a huge change and it will look way better on +35.

but if you like the stock handling then why are you changing the wheel/tire combo to begin with?
