Don't quote me but I think 215/45/17 is a more common size, which means the tires will be cheaper. I'd just stick to 215.

If you ran a tire like this in a configuration whereas a normal tire would have some stretch on the wheel - would one of these fill out better / be less stretched?

Wider does not always mean better performance. If you don't care for performance/safety, then this will not be relevant to you. In general, you can't go wrong sticking to the factory tire specs but upgrading to a stickier compound.

This is a very helpful document regarding wheels and tires.

Can you rephrase your question? I'm not sure what you're asking.

I was about to pull the trigger and go to a slightly wider 7.5 or 8" .. but i started reading about the height that these add as well. (in 17" format)

i like the stock low-profile look, and the wider tires will give you higher sidewalls.. if you're like me and like playing in the canyons on the wknd - thats something to think about.

i decided to stick wit stock tires and maybe pick up the 215's in StarSpec -- that alone will add about an inch of width and nothing on the sidewall. that would be best for me.

just something to think about ...

You can go up to 8" wide on the wheels on 215 tires and it won't affect the height of the overall wheel. I think you got them mixed up.

Once you go to 235 and wider tires, you'll want 40 series sidewalls in order to keep the same overall height of the wheel. However, I don't recommend going with wider tires unless you plan to swap out suspension components too. Anything that's wider than 225, you'll be looking at your suspension being the weakest link in your car IMO.

Yes, they will look less stretched. As mentioned earlier, all tires are not the same even if they have the same specs.

For example, You'd have to be running 8.5 and wider to get that "stretched" look on 215 star specs. However, 8" wide wheels will look "stretched" on oem tires.

17X7.5 on stock size tires ?

Im looking at the Enkei PF's -- in as close as stock as i can get --

I noticed that tirerack says to move up to 225/45/17 for this size... but is that the widest it can take safely ?

what happens or is it recommended to use the 215/45's - on a rim size that is bigger than the stock 7" ?

or does that strectch the tire ? - ive heard that term but not sure what that means ---

I did. The name of the thread and the topic of the first post concerns stretching the turanza's over some 8" enkeis.

He never said anything about getting the summer tires that he wants in 215. That's something you extrapolated from nowhere.

Hi, i am wanting to put either of these 2 sets of rims

http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=1107
http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=5760

on these tires

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e+Sport+COMP-2

but i dont know anything about rim size or tire size and dont know what would be the best fitment without rubbing on the stock suspension set up.
