I realize that thinner, lighter-weight panels help fuel economy, but still, when something as small and light as an acorn can cause a dent, that's pretty pathetic.

It's because the material used on the hood is aluminum versus steel, which is used on a regular basis on other cars.

Basically it's like a hood made from a soda can.
