Acorn damage from Hurricane Sandy

I left work around 4 on Monday and had to drive through the very beggining of Hurricane Sandy in Va. About half way home I drove under some trees and a couple of acorns fell and hit the top of my car and hood. Have about 4 small acorn dents and it is killing me!! Anyone got any tips on getting them out? Tried the air spray method and that did not work. I just don't want to take it to a dent removal shop and get charged an arm and a leg.

PDR (paintless dent repair) will take care of the problem for you and if your auto policy carries comprehensive, that coverage will pay for it less any deductible you have.

Also, a comprehensive claim should not have any impact on your rates being raised. You can confirm that by checking with your agent.

An arm and a leg for dent removal? Really? I wouldn't think it'd be that pricy but then against I've never had it done...

I had one acorn drop on my hood randomly that caused a small ding, it annoyed me so much that I paid $175 for PDR to remove it. I think it cost a lil extra since it's an aluminum hood.

I feel your pain man... I too have dents on my hood and roof... I was gonna fix them myself , but both dents are in between cross-members.. grr! lol I plan on figuring it out on how to get to them. I have been looking at repair tools for this very reason. Though the kits cost $500 dollars... Not something I want to buy at the moment so I think i'll just buy a water proof cover for the car for now and purchase packing blankets to keep the top protected as it's parked in my driveway since I do not have a garage... Yet... If/when I figure out how to fix these dents that in between cross members I'll share the knowledge. Other dents are easy to fix with a small rubber mallet, a straight/hard molding shape that you can hammer against (lightly) on the other side which should be wrapped with a towel... There are different ways of doing this. The best way though is massaging the dent straight, while using a grid of fluorescent lamps as a guide to get it as straight as possible. If you feel this might be out of your league... take it to a PDR. (paintless dent repair) shop. I don't claim to be all knowing on this subject, I have taken out a few dents with these techniques just fine... I still have much to learn though, but patience and never rushing the job goes a long way in the end.

I hope I was somewhat helpful. :P

How sad is it that falling acorns can cause dents on cars these days?

I realize that thinner, lighter-weight panels help fuel economy, but still, when something as small and light as an acorn can cause a dent, that's pretty pathetic.
