I have rollcall on the Silvia's back window. JUN and TEIN and Whiteline and a bunch of other lame shit. It's just there for fun. I love seeing rollcall done classy as part of the JDM look-- White vinyl on a white pearl 86 would look nice.

Guys... this is an easy fix. Take a an aftermarket pulley to a machine shop and have them examine them and give you the results on how balance is it.

Just wanted to share some more light on the TODA lightweight pulley kit. I have it installed the last 3 years without any issues, but we had all these endless discussions if a lightweight crank pulley or in general a lightweight kit can provide any "gains" at all just by the weight advantage. I agree that the gains just by the weight difference are almost zero. TODA was mentioning on their site that the alternator pulley was under-driven, but still the pulley's size difference wasn't much and the overall gains should be small. So, it looks that either TODA was cheating or they were mentioning half of the truth. The complete truth is that the entire kit is under-driven (crank, alternator, water pump). Check the difference of the crank pulley size and the alternator pulley size.

The crank pulley size difference under-drives the complete system and the alternator pulley size difference under-drives a bit more the alternator. Additionally, the better weight distribution of the crank pulley (OEM has most of the weight on the outside part) and the smaller diameter gives a bit better rotational inertia. It should not be massive, but I believe it helps a bit too.

Just buy fensport under driven water/alt pulley for 1/3rd the price. Use the extra money on a fluidampr or ati super damper crank pulley, or keep oem.

Yes you can find much cheaper water/alt pulleys, but they use another material. Most of them use 6061 aluminum and not the 7075. I recall that only Toda and Laile use the 7075 type which is more expensive and stronger. If you hit two pulleys together one with the 6061 and one with the 7075 aluminum, the one with the 6061 will get a crack and the other nothing.

Fluidampr is a good option and I heard that they have also some relationship with DARPA. However, it goes into the opposite direction if you want a smooth running engine without much NVH. It is recommended currently in Japan by tuners for audio makers and demo cars in audio stores.

over-sized under-driven water/alt pulleys* and to my knowledge Fensport and Toda are the only two options. Also Fensport's are incredibly high quality.

Every serious person runs Fluidampr or ATI in their builds. LW crank pulleys do nothing but lighten your wallet. Balancers/dampeners help keep everything running smooth especially the more things you change about how the engine runs compared to stock. Some testing has even shown that increase in dampening ability especially in the higher RPMS reducing internal vibrations actually increased HP. Smoother engine and more HP or losing 3lbs from the equivalency of 1,000lbs of rotational force and possibly decrease the life expectancy of an engine. I guess to each their own right.
