As for where to sell your sculptures, you could start at local art&wine festivals, craft fairs etc. Also there are organizations that specialize in helping young women specifically get a small business off the ground. Sorry I can't give you any names offhand but you can google it and if you're serious I might be able to help dig up references I've seen in the past.

As for where to fire the clay, look for online artist communities (i.e. something along the lines of a sculptors' forum) and ask. Or if there are community art classes in your area ask there for ideas.

I used to, I worked with paint, clay and marble long ago, but I reached a point where i would revise and revisit my work over and over and over again, trying to perfect it. Drove me insane, so I started doing 3d development before approaching a piece as it was easier to modify, edit, but again, was plagued by constant need to perfect what was done. I never could get a handle on the mental discipline required to overcome that. After each piece was done and paid, I would end up feeling even emotionally worse than when I started, constant feeling of failure as it was never perfect, was always missing something. To this day I havent found the missing piece, someday I will, when Im meant to.

I have a Ceramics degree from KCAI but have long since moved in to 3D video and Game production. I still have my wheel and a good sized electric kiln that I never have time to use. I like to work in High fire, some wood fire and of course raku is fun looks like you like about the same.
Alfred in upstate NY competes’ with KCAI as one of the best ceramics school in the world. You have a nice portfolio started there with a little work you could defiantly get in and probably get a scholarship to help pay.

Do you like doing 3D video and game production!?! That was something I was looking into doing but didn't know how to approach it since college is alot of money and finding the right school...And than I was worried about job placement afterwards :/

Ps:I would love to come over and use that kiln! I can't use the wheel but maybe I can sculpt a little frs - lol :P

Every good/true artist that I've met, college professors, some other students including myself always view our art like you do.

Whatever you do is never good enough, and that-in the end is what will make a good artist.
One who is always trying to learn more, see their mistakes and constantly try to fix them. Hell I threw out entire sculptures people said were good-I said no, I need to start from the beginning again.
It can become quite obsessive tho... Mentally draining at times..

I bet your artwork look fantastic I'm very curious, but do try not to be very hard on yourself.. I'm like that often and it just gets depressing.

Lol... you're the one that said it, not me.

Anyway, I've tried it before in Europe and all it really takes is patience and good focus.
I was just thinking if there's a way of incorporating glassblowing and sculpting together if you're trying to expand your portfolio or when it comes to selling your art work.

unfortunately (I made a post already"Buyers Remorse") This is the only thing that interests me career wise...
So I'm thinking about choosing something else. Art school is too expensive and I might not be able to find a job afterwards.

I currently work at a office and surprisingly don't mind it. I'm not very smart and the work is easy and non-stressful.

Anyway, My first year with clay was 12th grade, I went to college briefly and that's where the cooler stuff came from.

Let me know what you think-I would post this on reddit but it would get buried and people there can be jerks at times as well.

It works. I do recall Flight of the Conchords and now the robot makes more sense. Awesome.

You know, now that I think about it, you may also be able to do some side work for bakeries. I have a friend that owns two and has a guy that is very well known in the figurine world and Hollywood doing sculpting for her. And you get free cake!!!

I love your work. You truly do have talent for sculpting, but I'm sure it's not the only thing you are good at.

The prancing horse is great, but my favorites are the figurines. The one with the kneeling girl hugging herself really get me, it's emotionally powerful. You really get a sense of loss, lonelyness and despair from it. The baby is sooo well done to but it's scary and creepy to me. Maybe it's the finish but for some reason it makes me think the baby was caught it a nuclear bomb and frozen in it's last scream...brrr gives me chills.

I'm an amateur artist but I don't think I've ever created anything so emotionally engaging. I don't think I could ever be a pro-artist since I go for long periods when I don't want to work on art at all. So I take it as it comes and if it's not going the way I want I can walk away from it for awhile. You can see my work at: www.paintingsilove.com/artist/shawnw

If you truly want to pursue a career in sculpting but college is out of the question financially I would encourage you to just keep working on your art. You will still develop as an artist just by continuing to work. If you truly want to go to art school then make a plan and figure out how to pay for it. There is always a way if you are willing to work hard at it. I think your talent is worth developing any way you can.

I'd also say look for local artists groups, they will support and encourage you, mentor you, and help you sell your work.

Good luck with your art where ever it leads you.

Thank you so much And yeah the baby was meant to freak people out! Lol, at the time I really disliked babies(still do a little) But I can understand their cuteness now as opposed than. I even gave her some shark teeth lol

I really like your drawings! The lighthouses are my favorites, the colors are awesome, it's very clean and photographic(my way of saying realistic) nice job :-) I always found drawing to be difficult, especially color.

Thank you for the nice comment. I'm still working on colors a lot myself! Pencils are hard because you can only mix them on the paper.
