I honestly can't see them changing the sound a noticeable amount on these cars, but you may have a point.

My only concern is if I can get a similar sound with a custom made catback
Well, this is my exhaust for reference.

Swap out the mid-pipe. get rid of the resonator, larger diameter.. should give it more of a growl

Tim, what did you pay for that? I'm about to get a quote from a shop in San Marcos, and would like to make sure I'm getting a competitive price.

Also, do you know what muffler they used? It sounds great, I'd like to hear that in person one of these days (I'm in Oceanside).

I'm really surprised at how much some of these deletes are costing. I got a JW2 turndown pipe for $58 shipped! I sold it when I got this car thinking it wouldn't fit, but turns out it does.

But I'd still want dual-exit anyway. I loved the sound of the turndown on my STi hatch (I got compliments all the time) but hated that BOTH cutouts were empty...

I was considering getting a catback exhaust system, but I feel like the only reason Im getting the system is for the sound it produces. This is my first sports car, and i had a toyota tacoma before and slapped a flowmaster muffler on it and loved the sound it produced. What are your thoughts on just getting a muffler for my fr-s? Too ricey/poser? Or should i just get the full on exhaust system and spend that extra 300-400 dollars which i wanted to spend on different cosmetic mods.
Dude I can relate. I'm coming from a 1992 Camry 325,000 miles. Never had a race car. Nor do I plan on doing all kindsa shit to it. And I'm not going to race either because that's just not me. Don't want to risk my life, nor others. But I do plan on taking it on the track just for the hell of it.

And the ONLY thing I've done so far which I'm more than happy is adding that Invidia Exhaust. The burnt tip on it made my car look cool but it sounds great as well. Best investment so far. Asides from that, I just love how the car looks as is. I don't have an interest in doing all kinda stuff. I feel like a dumb ass when these mechanics or people that are really into cars talking about all kindsa stuff adding this and that. I'm just nodding my head as if I know what they're talking about. In all reality it just sounds like a whole new language.

If I'm going to want a car with all kinds of speed then I'll just save up for a GTR/Lambo/Ferrari/Porsche in the future.

This is just me though.

It was $300, but I brought my own Magnaflow #12266 muffler. If you're in Oceanside, I would highly suggest going to Richard's Performance Muffler. They has mine done in a few hours and they're the nicest guys there.

You spent $400? Why not just buy an axle back thats built for your car and it will have re-sale value when you decide to get rid of it?

It will only cost $150 more for a Nameless catback.

Umm...so he saved that much AND got an axleback that was made for his car. Because they built it for him. How does that not make sense?

Yes, I LUURRRVE the Nameless axleback, but they're just a shop building something to fit. You go into any muffler shop anywhere and guess what...they build something to fit.

I guess my whole point was the re-sale and fit and finish argument. To each his own I guess.

I can see what you mean, but the quality will just depend on the shop and the price, most likely. As for re-sale, keep the stock parts and sell your aftermarket stuff. You'll likely get more back that way.

And really, why would you sell this car?!?
