I had the muffler delete on the car for a month. In the end the gaping hole on the passenger side of the bumper bugged me so much I switched to a Perrin catback but it was a lot more money. On the cheap there are some muffler deletes out there now and some coming soon that can do both holes (giggity) but cost just $100-150 less because its the same thing minus the cost of the muffler/fab difference. I personally dislike invidia stuff so that was never in my decision tree.

I have an idea. Look into the Flowmaster 80 series crossflow, (2.5" in / 2.5" out). You can get a stainless steel one for about $100 on amazon, or summitracing.com. Take it to a muffler shop and have them cut the inlet and outlet pipes off your stock muffler and weld them into the flowmaster muffler. That way you get the sound, a little bit of weight savings, and you save money by reusing the pipes that come with the stock muffler. In all, everything should come down to less than $300.

The type of muffler you should look into is a transverse muffler, with a inlet and outlet on one side, and a outlet on the other side.

If you go that route, look at "turbo" style mufflers. This car with the stock midpipe is pretty quiet, so much so the delete are a very nice option. So if you get a typical muffler, you may find you can't hear your engine at all.

Thats basically an axle back.

I think you need to find someone local that has a car with an axle back and one with a track pipe and listen to each.

Yes. You can find good tips, either weld on or clamp on, for about $30 each. A good muffler should be around $100 +/- $20, and labor should be around $120 or less. That's around $280, and that's just what I've seen here in Houston, TX. So it may vary where you live. If you go to a muffler shop, they may have mufflers at a discounted price compared to summitracing and amazon. The tips, you are better off getting them online since those tend to be cheaper online.

Go to youtube and search flowmaster 80 series muffler, and click on the videos that have the smaller engine vehicles. you can also search magnaflow, and turbo mufflers. Always click on the videos that have cars with 4 cylinders since that will be a similar sound, not the same... but "similar".

A flowmaster on a Tacoma is going to sound a lot different on a FRS / BRZ. But if you want to just change the sound a bit, an axle back or customer muffler setup should do the trick. Try it and let us know how it sounds!

LOL it's amazing no one suggested, just replace the tip. It's not like OP is looking for any gain of hp or tq. Just looking for cosmetic stuff. Exhaust tips will be much cheaper rout imo

THANK you! this answered my question perfectly. So it essentially doesnt matter what muffler you get correct? It'll fit any make/model?
