The 2013 acura RDX weighs approx 3800 lbs, has only 273hp, and matches the FRS in 0-60 acceleration at 6.2 seconds. I'm sure a camry V6 would stomp on a stock FRS. My buddy played a bit with a FRS in his G35x. His car is stock and from a roll it pulled away pretty effortlessly. The problem is gearing. Full bore, from a dig the MT FRS will pull away from the G35x with its automatic. But from a roll, the FRS will need another 20hp to pull away from a G35x. Even though they hit the same claimed 0-60 time.

The 2010 camry V6 matched the FRS 0-60 at 6.2 seconds, but the new 2012 is quicker at only 5.8 seconds. 1/4 mile in 14.2 seconds. VW passat V6 is quicker still. So pretty much any V6 powered sedan can match or beat the FRS in terms of acceleration.

But you know what remedies that? A turbo. A tune alone makes a pretty big difference. Rematch that RX8 with a tune and exhaust and it could be a different story. I'd bet money on the FRS pulling away next time if that were the case.

Solution: clutch kick

Definitely a turbo would be the most efficient way to go for power gains, but I just don't like the idea of a small jet engine in my car... Especially coupled with the lag. I'd add a centrifugal belt-driven compressor instead. No lag, and feels nearly as responsive as an NA engine. And Vortech already has one in the works.

Not at all. First of all, the Camaro had wheelspin like a mother. Probably accompanied by some bad shifting. Also, look at this comparison:

I really think it comes down to the driver, but i noticed the FRS is much better at freeway speeds where you can keep the RPMs in the 5-7k range.

The flat 4 and the Rotary engines need to stay in the meat of the powerband ,which unfortunately takes time to reach making them poor from light to light.

I have done best at a roll, where i could bring it to the 5k mark with a flip of a switch.Held my own with a 01' 530i and 2010' 135i coupe . I could not pull on them ,but i did not lose ground either.Checked out at about 130mph.

The FRS/BRZ/86 can run great against faster cars, but you have to "cherry pick"

530i I can see. 135i was not trying hard or floored it in high gear. 2010 135i can trap over 100mph.

Yeah but it's still a Hyundai. No history, no class.

What is the point? Drag racing is not a strong attribute of either of these cars… There are literally Mini Vans out there that are faster in a straight line than both of you… Take them to a road course, auto cross event or on some mountain pass roads and then see which is better…

BTW, Usain Bolt is faster in a 1/4 mile…

Peace!
I hope you're joking
