I've put about 500 miles on my airaid intake and I only just today deleted the snorkel. It sounds good, I can't tell if you it adds any legitimate power but it does sound good. Deleting the snorkel seems to have changed the noise. Everyone will tell you it sounds best at high revs but this is simply not true. It sounds best at 50% throttle. Even if its only 2-3k RPM. It makes a hilarious "BAHHHHHHHH" sound if you just go WOT in top gear. Lots of noise, no power

To W2:
Thanks for sharing this great thread and I've managed to take out the snorkel and the rest of the silly noise generating pipes.

Snorkel delete has been shown to increase airflow up to 20% on a flowbench.

This has made a world of a difference. I installed the AFE intake but I didn't take out the snorkel since I didn't want to remove my front bumper. After seeing this thread I removed it following the instructions and it was very simple and straight forward. The easiest way to remove the bolts from the snorkel is with a 10mm wrench since the space is very limited.
Hats off to you sir for making this thread and the sound difference was night and day and I feel like the car breathes way better now and the butt dyno approves. |

I put an airaid intake in, removed snorkel. I did love the sound difference. I had bad experience with it however: burnt out two sensors, after that I am back to stock.
The only thing I can figure might have any influence was that I did notice a lot of moisture accumulating in the airaid box. Just too much water in PDX I guess, will have to find a different air intake. |
