I talked to him for almost an hour and explained him my frustrations. Long story short, they will pay for the rental until the car is fixed, extend and give me the platinum warranty (100k/7yr I think) and pay my first month car payment.

I told him that I hope....i really HOPE the part fixes the issue because if it doesn't than we need to have a serious conversation about a replacement.

So the story continues...
I'd be so pissed off as well. hope everything works well for you and give us an update!

Great, I just picked up my FR-S last night as well. Hopefully its not associated with the day as I am driving home. I will probably be using this thread as a reference.

that's not a bad bargain at all. that extended warranty would have cost you close to 3k. in the bad luck you seem to have better luck than others. hope your car get fixed man.

Update 5:

Yet another let down from the dealer today. They fixed and replaced the vvti cam gears, sensors and the car ran fine. Apparently with this car, once the cam timing goes off, they have to replace the whole engine management system because the timing codes are "hard coded" (i have never heard this before for any car) and guess what.....they dont have the part here and is back ordered. yada yada...same story.

I had talked to the GM last time saying that if I am not able to get the car by the 11th (which I wont now for sure), I want to talk to him about my options (replacement, or return the car/undo the deal or arbitration). But the GM is out for 4 days so cant talk to anyone at the moment.

Frustrated beyond words....this whole ordeal is really testing all the meditation I have been practicing since last year.

As early adopters we take the risk of discovering faults with the car, year 2 buyers won't have these issues allegedly and can buy a car with greater confidence. So inherently those of us who fell in love with this car by reading reviews and deciding to buy a brand new model with no history behind it whatsoever, we suffer the greatest possible risk of failure, and unfortunately for some of us it's happening but it should not come as a surprise as the risk was always there.

The reward, being the first and flaunting it in people's faces that we have something they don't, won't, can't have. We all made wagers and for some of us we lost the bet.

Now hopefully Toyobaru will correct the situation.
