My 24 experience owning an FR-S

Just got this yesterday after spending the morning on the phone hunting one down...

Right off the bat I want to address the power/speed of the car. I had concerns going in to this not knowing if I would like driving a car with such little power. And I have seen a lot of similar concern on here from reading many of the threads.

I have owned nothing but mustangs and sport bikes in my life and had plenty of imports which served as my daily drivers (tC, civics, accord, etc). I really desired this car because I felt it was really the best bang for the buck commuter car that I could buy in that price point. So my general summary/experience of the speed/power is that it doesn't exist. The car is very slow (I have a 6mt). But the thing is, it wasn't disappointing at all in a weird way. It's probably one of the funnest car's I've ever owned, we keep hearing all the journalist talk about how balanced it is and yada yada yada. I usually chalk that up to journalist fluff because the vehicle is dull but that's not the case here. I'm more than happy with the purchase, its exceeding my expectations and I've yet to own it for 24 hours.

I think this car with a small turbo would produce a lot of shit eating grins. It will probably never hang with my mustang or R6 on the freeway but I expect 10x the fun with it at the track. Excellent car!

Congratulations!

And my thoughts exactly - this things needs about 300-320 at the rear tires to be stupid fun. And as soon as we have an ECU tuning solution that will happen.

Another thing I wanted to note that impressed me was the rear window viability. My girlfriend owns a 350z and I was anticipating this to be similar based on the size of the car, the slope of the rear end along with the low seating arrangement but it's not nearly as bad as the Z cars. Some viability issues do still exist but it's much more manageable.

Finally saw asphalt in person today, it's beautiful. I don't think photos can do it justice.

True indeed....it looks like Chevy's Black Granit..but with a ever so slighly lighter tint..when the sun is going down this color is jaw dropping....

Asphalt is great picked one up myself last Thursday the pictures really don't do it justice you need to see it in person. At night it picks up hints of blue giving it a cobalt type look plus closely matches color of the wheels which also look much better in person. Glad you are enjoying the car I came from a slightly modded MR2 turbo so it's defiantly not a faster car but I also have and am I big fan of the original AE86 and this car has captured it's spirit in a modern package if you haven't already try driving one and it will make apreciate the new car in a new light.
