Sub + Amp Questions

Hi guys, looking for advice on a couple of things. Love the stock look when it comes to sound systems. I ordered an amp that will fit in the trunk in the top right corner under the carpet if I cut out a section of foam... as seen on other threads.

Couple quick questions!

1. Where's the best location to run the power line from the battery through the firewall?

2. Does anyone know if the upgraded FR-S HU has a trigger (turn-on) wire? If not, could it be run off the amp in the back? (I'd almost prefer to do that anyway since it is closer.)

3. Lastly, I'd love to hear from guys who've already done this... are you running power up the right side of the car and RCA'S up the left?

-----

Just picked up my car last Friday... what a machine!!!

1. Grommet on passenger side, do a search, my thread has pics too I believe.

2. The amp in back has a remote wire, check the service manual for a full breakdown.

3. Power on passenger side, speakers and rca's on the driver side. I think everyone has done it that way so far. All on the floor too, don't know that anyone has gone through the pillars...

If you look on the drivers side of the car, you will see a grommet there as well, get some scissors And cut of the nipple looking piece. That's where I fed my power wire

Thanks for the quick response guys! Appreciated. As for the remote wire off the amp: Here's a diagram of the amp from the service manual. I'm don't fully understand what is going on, but I don't see a line out for it, unless you are referring to AMP?

I did mine from behind the head unit itself, just tapped into one of the 12v wires.

You tapped the 12V from behind the HU for your amp? If so, that's a big no-no. You should be taking 12V directly from the battery with a fuse inline. You run the risk of drawing more power than the wires to the HU are able to support and causing a wire to melt or worse, a fire.

I'll see if I can get power off the rear amp otherwise I'll do the same as you and run it off the HU. Although, it makes sense to run it off the rear amp for obvious reasons: less wiring = big weight savings = faster 1/4 mile times. Wires are heavy! ha ha...

We are talking about the trigger wire.

Correct, I can't remember which wire it was off the top of my head, but I can help once I get home. I believe it was a red cable with a white stripe. Anyway, I believe if you tapped into the green wire on that amp in the rear, it would pretty much be the same difference.

Good to hear. Just making sure. Didn't want someone to be posting up that their car burned down.

Which pin on the stock amp carries power? Is it switched with the audio or is it always on with ACC? I'd like to tap into it for a rearview camera if I can, since it's right there anyway.

I believe it's always on with acc, and it should be the green wire
