I installed my rubber mats while the car was still on the delivery floor at the dealer so my carpet mats are perfect

Don't think Scion USA sells them, they are included with the car in Canada (all 2012+ Toyota/Lexus/Scion models come with both sets of mats in Canada).

Scion doesn't have rubber mats yet, so I picked up a universal set at the local auto parts store before I grabbed my car. The dealer mentioned the "oh god don't use two floor mats" thing too, and I think it's bull--the carpet mats are attached by the little hooks, so they're not sliding anywhere, and the rubber mat will slide just as easily on the car's normal carpeting as on the carpet mat.

Mine aren't to the fuzzy stage yet, but the carpet is crushing down pretty good in the same spot after 3300 miles. I took the carpet mat out on the driver's side last weekend, and put the rubber mat in it's place. The Scion rubber mats are pretty thin and cheap, but should be ok for 3 season use, or someone who doesn't see much snow. I posted the part number for the Scion mats a while back, but if anyone wants it, I'll post it again.

DO NOT PUT UNSECURED MATS ON TOP OF THE CARPET MATS! Does anyone not remember the recalls of 2010 for Toyota? This was the main culprit to the problems. Trust me, you are not alone in this, I still see it every day in the service department and customers that have their cars appraised. How quickly people forget.....

I would wait for WeatherTech or Husky Liners etc to make a set of All Weather Mats for our cars. Ever since the recalls, Toyota's rubber mats pretty much suck. They no longer have the nice, deep lip that contains all the slop. They no longer have that nice deep lip because they need to do what they can to protect people from themselves, by stacking floor mats. The old design of their mats had about 3/4 - 1" deep lip all around the mat to contain the slop, which was also the reason they trapped gas pedals when they slid under the gas pedal. The gas pedal would become trapped at WOT and sent the driver's into a panic that they forgot how to operate the car and turn it off, slam on the brakes, or throw it in neutral. Most, if not all of the issues were with Autos because if someone ran into an issue with a manual, just depress the clutch.

And that's why I drive a manual

I agree a giant loose rubber mat can be dangerous if stuck, the one I use is the small piece that pp put on the back not the full size piece.

same thing happened on the carpet of my ep3 where my left foot's heel was for the clutch.
don't be suprised,it's by far not the best quality carpet.

i dont know what the point of stacking mats are. I just use the rubber ones full time and forget about the carpets lol. that way the rubber mats can just be rinsed off when dirty, while the carpet mat just sits somewhere being nice and clean lol, instead of being fuzz worned out or dirty as heck that needs to be scrubbed clean.
