FRS Carpet care
FRS Carpet care, any tips?
I've started to notice on the driver side floor mat, where my heels rest that that area has been "flattened" a tad obvious at some angles / lights. With the weather getting rainy and such and dirty shoes and normal wear, is there any tips on bringing the carpet back to how it once was? No oem weather mats yet, so I just want to keep my carpets in good condition until i can start swapping them out for appropriate weather. So far all ive tried doing is running a microfiber across the mat to clean occasionally. this doesn't (and wasnt expecting it to) help with "unflattening" the heel areas.

Unfortunately often times that sort of wear is an indicator of the carpet fibers actually being damaged, and in those cases it is very difficult to completely restore the original appearance without doing some invasive surgery to replace the damaged fibers and blend in the replacement.
That said, I would suggest trying a dry foam carpet cleaner such as Blue Coral or Turtle Wax "Power OUT!" (also called Interior1 in some stores). Scrub the area with a nylon bristled brush (I like to use a Libmann Kitchen Scrub Brush for this) followed by a MF Towel to remove any dirt that may be embedded, and finally use a shop vac to extract the rest of the shampoo. It may or may not restore the appearance of the carpet depending on the extent of the wear.

...and when you are done put down a rubber mat as it is obvious the carpet one doesn't hold up to wear and tear.

I'm hoping for rubber floor mats for the winter. Anyone know of any company making them?

There is a thread calling for people to bombard weathertech with requests, I know I've sent mine in. You should do the same.

In the meantime, I also found another option in the form of LLOYD Rubbertite all-weather mats, or their Clear Protector mats which you can put over top of the factory mats to still see the embroidered logos: http://www.carid.com/2013-subaru-brz...ts-161257.html http://www.carid.com/2013-subaru-brz...ts-162656.html

Keeping carpets in good condition is a difficult job in such weather therefore one option can be to hire carpet cleaners on monthly or weekly basis so that carpets can be maintained and they do not get too dirty.

My frs came with Scion rubber mats. Maybe it's a Canadian thing? Either way you could try the dealer there should be a part number for it.

Check this out:
- you can buy the digital fit mats on the WeatherTech website for $99 + $18 shipping = total $117.00. Or you can buy a set through Ebay (WeatherTech is the seller) for $117.95 with "free shipping." Sleazy....... |
