I genuinely have the same exact feeling as you! this thread made me feel a little better i'm not the only one, in hopes that scion/pioneer will do something about it and give us an update! or better yet a CD update with navi and maps all in one

I do know that there is going to be a brand new cable for the Bespoke Head unit, that my dealership is going to be sending me in a few weeeks... since I never received one initially. I was told that they're working on something better.. so high hopes for something better than whats already been given

Excellent review, but let's face it no real surprise here.

I (at least) knew pretty early on just from the marketing brochures that the BeSpoke wasn't really anything but a "remote screen" for your iPhone. No thank you. (1: don't do iPhone and 2: don't do smartphone based Nav). Fortunately the BeSpoke wasn't available early enough for Scion to upgrade the 1st86 to it so I didn't have to deal with it.

As for the unit itself making the interior look better as suggested above, I suppose that is a matter of taste. I personally don't like the way the unit looks either. I have nothing against touch-screens or large nav screens, just don't like the layout and the orange glow on this one.

It took about a week and then I upgraded to a Kenwood with nav and a decent back up cam. Nice to see there are some people around Houston on this site. I'm a Midtowner.

Can you link me to the exact setup you have? I'd really appreciate it. We should have a houston FRS/BRZ meet up sometime soon.

I will say that I think the bespoke unit looks better, and the dash of this car could use something to brighten it up a bit. I'm not a fan of touch screens for car radios, but I like that there is a section devoted to certain functions instead of buttons moving from screen to screen. I also like that it has a knob, and the 'buttons' are located above it so I can use the knob as a starting point and can find the up and back buttons without looking.

Of course, I could always find them without looking if they were actual buttons.

It's not a bad radio, but for someone without an iphone it doesn't offer any real functional improvement over the base radio.

Bought it at Fred Haas Toyota Country but I actually live in the Katy area. Just saw a Firestorm around here the other day

BeSpoke 2.0 will be out for the 2014 model year and it is actual navigation, not routing, plus it moves up to a larger screen with everything as touch screen. I work for Toyota and learned all of this at my FR-S training, so I figured I would share with you guys....
Will be available as an software update? Or only on new units?

I guess I'm the only one that likes apple maps lol. I used google maps but stopped when it told me to take a $4 toll rd for 20 seconds instead of driving an extra mile.

Well holy crap the head unit you guys get is pathetic!

The ones in Australia arn't the best, but not too bad. Syncs to my iPhone instantly via BT and plays music, lets me dial numbers answer calls etc, navigation works pretty well, yells at me when I'm speeding (knows the speed limits around well, only been wrong once, and that limit had changed) +30% over the limit (can set that to whatever you want).
Have only two real qualms with it, except for occasionally not syncing with my phone (needs a reboot, in which need to restart car...), lack of buttons for skipping songs (need to use the touch screen -> not being physical buttons is annoying) and the touch screen not being capacitive.
