My review of the FRS navigation
So after seeing the commercials showing the FRS navigation with the upgraded BeSpoke head unit I decided to check it out.
Here is my review of the navigation. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8NbKM-p_2U"]Scion FRS Navigation Review- YouTube[/ame] I'm not sure how to embed YouTube videos on here so if anyone can tell me how I'll edit the post. |

It's probably better to not have an iphone. At least you avoid the frustration of dealing with this app.

Great review! I've always wondered about the Bespoke nav and it's quality. This just confirms my thoughts. I'm thinking about building an iPad mini in the dash when they come out later this year.

I heard somewhere that it's not even navigation. It's called "guidance" and just gives you the directions to a certain location. The difference between it and navigation is that navigation can re-calibrate if you go off-route, while this would leave you high and dry. It's kind of like the guidance the Iphone already comes with. One of the many reasons I prefer Android phones with their real navigation. You might as well save on the bespoke to buy a super high end smartphone.
Good review though. If I would have changed something, it would be if you had gotten to the actual review sooner. You didn't really have to explain Scion's advertisement campaign or lack of advertisement on the navigation (twice, I ended up skipping it the second time). It was good besides that. |

I agree.
I got the BeSpoke on my First86, and my car spent a total of 9 days in the shop before they could tell me that the BeSpoke feature couldn't work without the cable that wasn't provided. I second this review. It is 100% accurate. Buying the Bespoke Rafio was a huge waste of money.

For iPhone users, I've been using it for a while now, and until iOS6 drops in a few months (possibly as soon as a month out) try out Waze. (Available on Android as well!) It's a free navigation app that works hella well, and I've been using it for about a year or so? The premise of it is that the more people use it, the more data is collected about the current state of traffic and that way it can vary your route or give you accurate data on how long it would take to reach your destination!
Try it, I doubt you'll be disappointed! |

Unfortunately, BeSpoke is not Navigation, it is routing. The first version, which is what is out for the 2013 model year vehicles is simple like MapQuest, it tells you where to turn, or routes you, but will not let you know if you miss your turn nor will it reroute you.
BeSpoke 2.0 will be out for the 2014 model year and it is actual navigation, not routing, plus it moves up to a larger screen with everything as touch screen. I work for Toyota and learned all of this at my FR-S training, so I figured I would share with you guys....
