Sell the truck - maybe wait till winter when prices for 4x4's are higher. Then buy a family sedan. Heck, if you can swing it, you can lease a new G37x for something like $240/mo with nothing down! (seriously, they had that deal last month!). Or else lease something like a new Jetta for about that price. Selling the truck should pay for a good year's worth of payments.

The FRS would suck for infant travel - but for a 3 year old, it's great! We have a TL and WRX Wagon. Guess what car we take on the weekends when it's all three of us going somewhere? Yeah, the BRZ. My son LOVES it and insists we take it every time!
Absolutely. Doable? Yeah. Pain in the ass? You betcha. Getting my son in and out of the MX-3 wasn't fun.

However, the baby/toddler years fly by. Before you know it, they're 3 or 4, and getting themselves in and out. At that point it's not all that difficult. My son loved the MX-3 as much as I did, he cried when I traded it in on the tC.

Go to the store without the wife and do a test fit to see how well a REAR FACING car seat will fit in the car (after having the seats adjusted to you and your wifes seating positions. Then when it fits just fine take the wife to the store and show her it's ok, don't give up. I had a 1999.5 2 door GTi when we had our son and we were fine. Remember, you have a bit of time to figure it out. Also, it seems that the best idea is to sell the 4x4 and the body kit and buy a used car (wagon of some sort? WRX, Corolla, VW, Audi...) Hope it all works out for you, if not Whiteout is the color I want as well....

This is a total SHIT TEST from your wife to see if your have the balls to stand firm in your stance and to see if your the MAN that she married. Lets just be clear about this, if you concede now she'll lose respect for you and that's dangerous line you don't want to be anywhere near.

IMO, I'd keep the car unless you're strapped for cash; then I would just try to sell off the mods but keep the car.

This is what I'd do with the wife. Sit her down and look her straight in the eyes and say with a firm & slow tone voice: "Honey, I understand your concerns but I will not sell off this car (Emphasize this). But I can promise you this if and when the time comes I will make the right the decision. Just trust me." (Kiss her on the forehead then look her again in the eyes). Then end it there.

Don't prolong it, don't argue & get into her emotional verbal fighting because you'll lose (women become irrational when they are emotional), don't say anything else and say it just once.

From my experience this works majority of the time to calm a women down unless she is Border Personality Disorder (BPD) and gets a thrill from fighting. A woman will follow suit with your decision as long as you STAND FIRM, BE A MAN, and don't concede to a women's irrationalness. Go ahead & try it then report back.

EDIT: Congrats on the baby, hope he/she is healthly.

BTW, I find the "Yes, Dear or Happy Wife = Happy Life" mentality rather pathetic, IMO.

If you decide to do a part out sale. I'd be interested. SUCKS that you have to sell it, but a baby is always a blessing (unless u knocked up a stripper or a hooker). I would seriously consider selling your 4x4 and getting a sedan or a nice SUV. If thats out of the question then I wouldn't argue with the wife. SELL.

I've tried this, and I was escorted quicker than a bolt of lightning to Disney's Magical Couch of Bedtime.

Congratulations on the new baby! I hope you can find a resolution to this problem. I don't know how big/tall you and your wife are, so I don't know how hard it would be to deal with a child seat in your situation. I also don't know what your financial situation is. If you can swing it, getting an inexpensive small sedan or wagon/SUV does make a bit of sense. Getting dry cleaned by selling a brand new car is not good. Getting rid of a car you really like and enjoy is much worse. I'd agressively explore every option that doesn't involve selling your new car.

I remember when I was a small child, I rode in a 1968 Camaro RS. (I wish I still had it.)

I wish you luck, and I hope you find another solution.

You got a few options:

1) Sell your mods to buy a beater. Im sure the mods will sell real fast.
2) Sell your 4x4 to buy a beater... Unless you haul stuff all the time?
3) Just plain buy a beater.... Keep both 4x4 and FRS.

A CHALLENGER HAS APPEAR!!! :happy0180:

Kidding aside, my advice is what everyone else is saying. Sell the mods and get a four door civic/corolla for 4-6K and call it a day. I went through the same shit you are going through now.

I was 18 with a pregnant wife. At the time I was driving a 1990 Nissan 240sx hatchback. She told me to sell the car and get a four door family car. I sat down with her one day and told her straight up that I wasn't selling the car. It was my first car and I just can't see the car going to someone who is just going to trash it. So what I did was save all the money that I was going to spend modding it and bought her a used civic lx for $3500. I got to keep my s13 and she got her civic.

Now 7 years and 2 kids later(7 and 5), I'm finally going to enjoy having a sport car that I can now mod and have fun in. I kept the car stock for 7 years. Just this last February did I sell the s13 away and guess what? the guy that I sold it too total it 2 weeks later. Broke my heart

Sorry for the thread jack. Hope this help you in some way or another.

This, get as much as you can for the 4x4, then get a decent DD.

OR JUST KEEP THE FUCKING FR-S AND PUT CHILD SEATS IN IT! IT'S WAY SAFER THAN WHATEVER YOUR PARENTS DROVE YOU AROUND IN!!!!

Yes I was yelling. I feel strongly that you can have a sports car and also live a regular life. That's actaully WHY THIS CAR WAS CREATED!!!!!
