Screwed myself out of my dream car...literally
1 Attachment(s)
So sometimes good news can be bad news lol. Two weeks after dumping about $8,000 into my brand new six speed whiteout fr-s I come home to find out my wife is pregnant. I drive an old toyota 4x4 and sold my wife's 4 door civic si to get the frs. After some heated arguments about how car seats could easily fit and me having waited for three years for this car to come out I have finally come to the conclusion that I will not win this battle...So now I guess my question is what avenue would be the best to try and recoup some of the money I dumped in? What do you think someone would pay for an FR-S 6 speed in whiteout with Bespoke audio, dealer installed uv limo tint that comes with a lifetime warranty, Cusco Street Zero 40 way adjustable coilovers, 18x8 +35 matte bronze TSW Nurburgring rotary forged wheels wrapped in Yokohama performance tires, and the Five Axis kit with spoiler (not even installed yet)....additionally all the badges and the whole suspension was painted to match the wheels except for the springs, they were professionally painted TRD Red along with all four brake calipers?

Man, its gonna be hard for her to get in and out of that car in a couple of months. And as much as I hate to say it, she has the right idea on this.
If my girl got pregnant I would be PISSSSSSSEEEEDDDDD. Then I would go get a Veloster Turbo and deal with it. |
Your car was one of my favorites
Good luck with the family. In my experience, you will always get the most money for your car by making it as close to stock as possible, and then selling it private party (trades are almost always bad). The parts should be sold separately private party as well. |
man i think you should go buy another car (4door) and keep this one lol
|
Uhm, you're not seriously gonna sell this car, are you?
It's fine for the kid, I don't get it. I hate to throw this one since it's being so overused recently but.. You only live once. ENJOY THIS CAR WHILE THE KID IS STILL SMALL |
Sorry to hear, I have no real advice,
But just wanted to say im a new father, and the FRS is not just my daily driver, my only driver. and the baby situation has worked out fine. (2 year old now) Although having already lost the battle against the wife. my point must mean moot. anyways, Good luck with sale! |
The answer is not to sell away your dreams.
Explain to her the losses that you will face (money, joy, peace of mind) + the safety, reliability, and efficiency of subaru... if she doesnt understand you I fear for your future. great thread title btw |
When I bought my car, the salesman asked if I were married.
I said, "No." Now I understand why he replied, "Nice!" |
I put an infant seat in a '92 MX-3. That thing was a death trap compared to a safer modern vehicle like the 86.
Your FR-S will handle it just fine. |
Could always buy a new wife.
You think im joking but meanwhile in Russia... |
Dont do it you will hate your self, and feel like your balls have been cut out ! Sry to put i this way, but seriously wtf is with some womans, they dnt seem to understant a guys relationship with his car ... Advice: sell the kit , since you will get most money back, use money to buy a 4 door civic/ camry and call it a day

Dude, I get the line all the time at work (I sell Toyota/Scions)...then I take them out and show them my FR-S fully loaded with car seat, wifes junk in passenger seat and an I <3 Boobies sticker on the back window. They all just smile. In fact, I use it as my family car now for grocery shopping, trips to the beach (just got back two hours ago from that), and just for riding. I know these are irrelevant in your fight, but I also own a Camry and we as a family elect to ride in my car...LOL. Good luck bro - your car is sick!

Thread title of the year

Congrats on your baby!
You could always tell your wife that you'll pass on the FR-S to your child when they get old enough to drive and you can upgrade then. Even if its hard for her to get in and out of the vehicle its only going to be 9 months. Better than a lifetime of regret knowing you had the car of your dreams and lost it. |
