Congratulations, now put your man pants on and stand firm that you will not sell your brand new car because the monetary loss would be insane. You could sell the mods to recoup some cash but for chrissakes, keep the car! Buy a cheap minivan for a couple grand.

And people wonder why I refuse to get married...

Honestly, once the baby gets here your entire world view and priorities will change. I'm not saying you won't care about this car by then, but you never know, everyone is different.

I understand you JUST got this vehicle, so it'd be hard to part with it since it's like having a kid yourself. As others have said, sell the parts and see if you can find reasons to keep it. All you really need is a separate, more baby friendly vehicle to haul the little one around.

When we had our daughter and I saw how tiny she was, I had ZERO issues selling my lifted Jeep Wrangler and replacing it with a SUV. Sure, I do miss it, but I will probably get another one down the road once she's older and can appreciate the ride. In the meantime, her safety is my only concern.

I suppose I should consider myself fortunate... Started out with four door car(s) before marriage, and now after getting married and having two kids... I've become a two door man. Guess I have my priorities mixed up...

Love my wife and kids like crazy and they cannot be replaced with anything material in the world... But the sports car hobby has crossed the line and become a part of my heart at the same time.

Congrats on the kid man! I just found out my wife is pregnant too! Lol, just our luck right? I told her I would hate her if she ever made me get rid of my FR-S.

You guys are hilarious and seriously thanks for all the emotional support...You guys hit the nail on the head when it comes to men and their vehicles...I have worked for Toyota/Scion since 2006 and was always researching rumors of a celica or a supra return because I felt that the sportiness that Toyota used to embody had died. I was overjoyed when I learned about a rear-wheel sports car was to be built and obsessed over this car from concept to production...lots of screaming and crying went into this decision...not all of it from me ; ) j/k ...and I guess I better get used to those two things anyways lol...I tried the whole "But babe this thing will be a collectible vehicle that I can pass on to my son one day"....then I put on the man pants....BIG mistake....there are consequences to putting on man pants...mostly getting bitched at and listening to tons of hormone driven crying (I hate it when my wife cries)...So yeah is my man card in jeopardy?..possibly, but some of the wisest men I have known, who all happen to have been married for a long time are always telling me "A happy wife is a happy life" The good news is that I've got about 7 months to get this all figured out, I like the ideas I am hearing thus far so perhaps there is hope after all...and Pyro...yes I should have let you have it, my bad, look for the pm from me soon lol...In all seriousness though, if there are any men on here wondering if this car will get you laid...the answer is a resounding YES...if you want attention from girls in your next car...this will get that attention for half the price of some other cars that have the same moistening effect on undergarments....Just remember there are always risks involved ; )

My wife said as long I can put a car seat in the back, she doesn't care. She said it is my problem having to get them in and out though.

Sell the 4X4 and the body kit and you should be able to afford a decent family care for the wife! Although, my hubby (5'10", 230 lb) was able to fit in the back seat of my FR-S without a problem when I was driving and our friend was riding shotgun. So really, you can fit a baby/child back there. Don't give up! You've already poured so much into your FR-S in terms of time and money, it would be a shame to let it go to waste.

Keep the car, just make sure to mount the baby in the middle of the back seat to maintain proper weight distrobution for the corners and while your wife is pregnant, the car can get to and from the store faster than an expedition. That kid will also grow up with a very keen sense of lateral G's.

dr dori's tips:

1) Don't sell the car. Part out the car, return it to stock and use the cash to buy a cheap 4 door beater to drive the baby around in

2) IF you do sell the car, still part it out

but if you sell it you're losing money, doesn't make sense. Your wife should have chimed in before you made the purchase of the FR-S.

Tell the wife you'd lose $8k by trying to sell a new car.

Sell the truck - maybe wait till winter when prices for 4x4's are higher. Then buy a family sedan. Heck, if you can swing it, you can lease a new G37x for something like $240/mo with nothing down! (seriously, they had that deal last month!). Or else lease something like a new Jetta for about that price. Selling the truck should pay for a good year's worth of payments.

The FRS would suck for infant travel - but for a 3 year old, it's great! We have a TL and WRX Wagon. Guess what car we take on the weekends when it's all three of us going somewhere? Yeah, the BRZ. My son LOVES it and insists we take it every time!

Congrats and here is my advise:

1. Wait until the baby is confirmed healthy and growing before doing anything. I am not trying to scare you but sometimes things happen between pregnancy and birth and not by choice of parents. Hormonal changes may also kick in and your wife may have a change of heart.

2. It may be worth to point out to her HOW MUCH MONEY you will be LOSING over this change. Its month and month worth of formula, diapers and baby clothing she would be throwing out because you going to lose at least 8k in value by trying to sell this car at this stage.

3. Sell the mods not the car. You will not get your money back no matter what but may be able to get enough for a 4 door used car for the baby hauling. I don't know how attached you are to your 4x4(I assume alot) but that may have to go with the mods if possible.

4. Put your car on weekend only insurance until your baby is older. This will defray the cost of the less useful car's insurance. Multi car discount plus this setup may net you a wash on insurance costs if the other car is a used 4 door car.

Good luck. Also keep in mind this car will probably be around still when your kid is old enough to ride in a coupe. May want to negotiate that future purchase term now with your wife and put it in writing so no excuses later...
