Anyone that is having the problem should look at the part number of the ecu. I'm curious now.

I'm sure it's been asked, but I'm curious as to the VINs that have the issue. Maybe certain cars in certain batches got bad ECU's with the 810 part number, then when they switched to a seperate batch again, got the new part numbers in later VINs.

So there is another thread about a TSB for getting a new ecu to enable a bunch if features on the car like disabling the day time running lights, fixing the cell phone on the passenger seat air bag buzzer issue, changing the horn on setting the alarm opening the trunk with a single click and possibly rolling down your windows on a double click. In the thread it mentions the vin ranges that need to have the new ecu. I think it would be the same vin range that is getting the check engine light.

"if your VIN is above 6034 then you have the new gateway ECU already"

I hope this means that below this range means you have the old ecu. Hope that helps anyone else.

The last 4 on my VIN is 7394, so it's possible I already had the new ECU. I've called the service tech's to ask them what ECU part number I current have, so hopefully they get back to me today. I'll update as soon as I can.

Welcome to the damn scion error code. I have an 06 xB as well and have had this code about 3-4 times. It is normally just one of the abs sensors on the wheel being knocked the wrong way and low fuel in the tank causeing an evap code. Do a google search on VSC, trac off, check engine light for an xB. This is a very common problem with the xB. Everytime it has happened to me I just reset the code by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Not saying this is the issue but some times dealers are quick to just change parts that throw the code.

I had a slight dip in RPM's a couple of times yesterday. I don't know if it's related to the issues you guys are having. Mine only dipped about 100 rpms every few seconds in neutral. I had auto-climate operating so it could've been the AC compressor kicking on and off. No shaking like people have described here.

Sounds like you are ok, AC will do that as usual. What I was seeing was RPM dipping below 400 RPM, causing some pretty significant shaking and clunking coming from the engine bay then eventually stalling out.

Well ...throw mine into the mix... P019...Camshaft/Crankshaft Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 2..
Had just got my oil changed....20 miles later the car stumbled...didn't sound right..and studdered...no code..yet.. then sitting at the stop light...it was idling very Rough...then basically died...and the CEL came on...had my code reader in the car as I was on my way to an autocross tomorrow...(cancelled obviously for me) I reset it... l.and about 20 miles later..came on again...so I took it back to the dealership parked it in the service bay and left it there...

Yikes! I'm at around 2k miles and haven't had the CEL yet.
I did have the rpm drop from time to time. Seemed to have gone away about 60 miles from switching to Shell V-Power (had 76 brand in it previously).

Is this something we can take the car into the dealer and get the ecu swapped out as a preventitive repair?
