That would be great to see, I wonder if I should ask to take a look at the VVTi gear they pull off mine. The Scion Reps didn't mention changing the ECU on mine, but I think my VIN may be a more recent one.

Got a call from my Toyota dealer. I first had my CEL light flash just even before I can take the car out of the lot. But said make the computer know all the parts and ride it. After a day the CEL went on permanently and the slip sensor light came on also and called Toyota. They Asked me to take it in for a check. I have to take it the next day cuz of personal errands but the next day when I was about to take it into the dealer, there was no CEL and slip sensor light. Took it to the dealer to make sure it is checked. After waiting the rep told my that the code they saw was about the vvti so they interchange it trying to make the CEL pop back on but no CEL. But today while at idle in a parking lot rpm dropped about 500 and like the car want to stall then CEL flashes 3 or 4 times.. But need to go to Napa for an errand so I drove her still and while driving back from Napa, CA, again CEL went on permanently and I just have 300 miles but while driving my dealer called me and told that they need my car for a repair issued by the corporate themselves to people having CEL problems. I'm scheduled on monday for it to be fixed by the foreman and needed it for two days. I'll be getting a loaner car for the mean time.

Just take your car in to the dealer if experiencing anything like this or other problems. Like somebody said the more we are, the fastest we can get these issues fixed and enjoy this car to its potential.

Note: I also have chirping noise and the idle dip coming in to a stop. I'll let my dealer know this too for sure.

Sounds pretty familiar. I don't think there's any doubt that there was a bad batch manufactured. It's probably just a matter of time before we get a VIN range for these issues and I'm assuming this is recall worthy, rather than just a TSB.

Parts came in and same parts that were said about vvti and crankshaft. Oil control valve, new ecm all related parts to the issues we havin. Hope all would be fixed after this repair. Can't drive my car for week. But all good as long as all issues will be resolved.

Got the car back, have not been in it yet. Went back and spoke with the mechanic. He said that the ecu was the issue. He said he swapped the oil control valve and the vvti gears but the code came back on a test drive. He said he did the same test drive with the new ecu which seems to have resolved it. The ecu part number ends in 811 now instead of 810. Gotta go drive now but ill update tonight.

So far so good. No pending error codes showing on the torque app. Only have about 5 miles but will be driving more tonight.

Awesome, let us know if you see anything else. My service tech didn't mention anything about replacing the ECU. Do you think I should ask them what part number I currently have or if they plan on installing a newer one? I'd rather not have to go back in. It's starting to become frustrating.

Service tech said they had one off the truck they replaced a bunch of stuff on including 5 ecu's but it wasn't till they swapped to the newer ecu that the issue was resolved. He also said they are not allowed to be diagnosing these things and only do what Toyota tells them to do since the car is brand new. I would check on what part number you have just out of curiosity.

44 miles and no pending error codes. Heavy burning smell after a hard drive. Pretty sure they got oil on things since they had the front of the engine off. Drives strong as she used.

Idle sounds like normal but it was never really an issue in my case.
